My brother was telling me that the film doesn't have any dark skinned black women in it, said people are accusing it of colorism etc etc. But the main character of the film is a dark black dude...

Saw it on Netflix last week, shit gets wild corny. Main character starts speaking directly to camera towards the end and it's got a bunch of awful NERD-lite faux-punk bullshit going on in the soundtrack.
-
It's good, could use some derious cuts. Also the SOCIAL MESSAGE at the end was kind of dumb since the whole movie is about that anyway. Also if you smashed Zoe Kravitz you couldn't stop thinking about her dad and it would sort of kill it.

Speak for yourself. I'd be thinking of her mom and hoping for more.

That's the very end and not big enough of a reason to avoid it. It's a really good coming of age movie.

Been avoiding this movie because it looks like The Wackness, long dick style.
It's like here we go again with blacks appropriating white hip hop culture, see The Wiz ::)
Real talk: I fucking hate The Wackness.

It's stylish for sure, the first half an hour is good. But it crashes pretty hard after that.
I tried to like it but :larry

I actually wouldn't have minded it as much if it was the last scene of the flick, but theres another scene or two afterwards. I wouldn't be surprised if that was an editing decision but it was really jarring/cheap feeling
