The Mets pitching staff gives me fucking nightmares. So disgusting that they developed/traded for pitchers of that caliber while simultaneously spending way less than they should because the Wilpons were dumb enough to sink all of their money into Bernie Madoff.

I can't believe the Wilpons actually coughed up money for Cespedes.

The good news for Braves fans is that in 2018 we can probably finish in 2nd behind you guys. If we can just keep trading with the Dbacks a couple times a year, we may even win the division someday

Another year of Cleveland having a great pitching staff complimented by 2/3'a of the had beens.

I look forward to our typical June swoon and an 81-81 record.

Opening day in Cleveland is supposed to be 40 degrees with a wind chill in the teens. You'd have to pay me 500 dollars to sit in that and watch a ballgame.

Every year too. It's either snowing or raining or foggy. Why can't MLB just get their shot together and schedule southern and western teams to open at home? Christ.

Wonder when MLB is gonna figure this shit out... they've got 2 teams in Florida, one in Atlanta, two in Texas, 1 in AZ, 4 in CA, and some in domes elsewhere. (Toronto at least off the top of my head)

There should be no reason to open the season in places where it's ass cold like this other than tradition or stupidity, but here we are, the same place we are at the beginning of every season. DERP.

My wife remembers going to opening day at Yankee Stadium when she was a teenager. Dimaggio threw out the first pitch and it snowed.

Gotta feel bad for dudes who take the day off work only to deal with a delayed game. It's supposed to snow here on Friday or Saturday, and the Tigers' opener is on Friday. smh

Anyway I was telling Cajole...I watched a lot of KC/NY game last night and don't even remember why. I was drinking bourbon.

I honestly think they could replace everything but RF and 1B with whoever is ready in the minors and our offense would be better. Well, CF isn't fair because Inciarte was doing alright but got hurt like 5 games into the season.

But yeah. We're gonna be potentially historically awful this season.

I think we'll be marginally better than that, but we're still gonna lose 100 games.

The real question is, when do we bring up our offensive prospects? (Dansby, Albies, Rio Ruiz) They have a chance to make an actual impact and improve the team.

If it were me, I'd fire Fredi Gonzalez at the all star break, then bring those guys up to get a couple months of seasoning under a non idiot manager.

I feel like he kind of got hosed a bit on this- realistically, he should have never been brought back this season.

However, I'm not going to miss him as his bullpen use and propensity to construct shitty line ups have cost us games, without question.

At this point, I'm fine with bringing up our position prospects as soon as the front office feels like it won't hurt their development.

Well, we already fired our GM in late 2014, so that for sure wasn't gonna happen. I also like the job that Coppy and Hart have done restocking the minor league system (dat Shelby Miller trade, tho) so I feel like they should get another 3 or so years, as rebuilds take some time despite what they might have to say to the contrary to the press about competing sooner rather than later.

Pretty nuts!

Great game.  Indians deserved to lose after what they pulled in games 5 & 6.  But man did they fight for it tonight

Another classic game 7 where the Indians lose. :/

Not mad though. They were underdogs in every series, yet still ALMOST went 11-2 in the post season (if they won that game 5 in Chicago). That's pretty crazy. The team didn't hit well for most of it and they had Josh Tomlin as their #2 starter.

This team was probably one of the least impressive "good" teams the Indians ever had. Even that 2007 team (which blew a 3-1 lead to the Red Sox in the ALCS) felt more impressive.

Normally I always try to minimize the role of management in baseball, but this year was one of those exceptions where management played a huge role in the overall success of the team.

Of course we have to be dicks here, but they definitely went further than they had any business going. Francona pulled every string correctly until Game 7, and that only didn't work out because Kluber and Miller finally ran out of gas (although I thought Miller should've started the 5th, but he gave up runs anyhow...). If they had their #2 and #3 starters, they probably win it all, even without Brantley.

Not only were the Cubs fucking stacked as hell this year, they barely had any injuries to deal with all year. And even Schwarber came back for the World Series.

Pretty much. Once Miller got into any trouble, it was basically fumes this team was running on. What a ride though.
