:( RIP the Five Foot Assassin.

RIP. To be honest, the only thing I know about this guy was that his name was used as part of the password on a lot of mid 90's porn sites :lol
-
"You on point Phife?"
"All the time, Tip"

I know the R&R Hall of Fame is kind of a joke, but it would've been cool if Phyfe could have lived long enough to see his group make it in.

Wouldn't know Jazz if I didn't know ATCQ.

That's what is great about music. It can open your eyes to other possibilities. I miss when acid jazz and such were influencing rap in a mainstream way.

Sad news. Always thought he out rapped Q-Tip on Low End Theory.

That's arguable, but what's not arguable is he was a much better person than Q-Tip will ever be.

Yea. Phife was always low key, humble, and a good dude; he was one of the rappers who helped Dilla's mom pay off some of his debt after he died in 2006. Ali is a super cool guy and great DJ; he recently produced a track on Kendrick's new EP and hosts a cool music show on NPR. Jaroni is cool and is a chef now. Tip tho...
I remember a few months ago the group was promoting a (pretty nice) re-issue of their first album. They did some promo and Tip didn't show up to any of the major ones they did. During the Fallon performance it kinda seemed like he was annoying the rest of the group with his grandstanding on stage. Sigh.
He's talented as fuck and still dope though. If you haven't listened to his Apple Music radio show do so; it's very very good. He did an amazing tribute mix for Maurice White when he passed. I'm sure he'll say all the right things about Phife but hip hop heads know he's an asshole and made Phife's life harder by refusing to do shit with the group.

RIP Phife.

His head got too fat for that lid he be slammin.
In other terms....remember when cheech dumped Chong because he was going to be a movie star.....yeah
Edit: I guess I can say I actually knew both of them and 90's Tip was a laid back good ass dude. I guess fame ran the game, which is understandable if you get it. But damn, Fives was a straight up dude who looked people in their eyes and listened. A rare trait.

"I like 'em brown, yellow, Puerto Rican or Haitian
Name is Phife Dawg from the Zulu Nation"
Phife the type of rapper you could reference on a social studies DBQ over the virtues of multiculturalism :lawd
