Anybody up to speed on this?

Both. More power efficient and smaller means that you can cram more transistors into the same card without risking overheating. On top of that you have other architectural improvements.

The important questions that haven't been answered yet is 1) what type of memory will different models use (GDDR5, GDDR5X, HBM2)? and 2) when will the enthusiast models that are suitable for gaming be released?

Neither the mobile, or the ultra-high-end, models are interesting to me. I want the equivalent of a either 970 or a 980Ti.

HBM2 production seems to be the hold back on Pascal's release. If it's too difficult to manufacture in quantity it's gonna delay it's release further. Fucking samsung need to get their shit together the rest of us are waiting.

I'm still sitting on a 750ti, waiting on the new Pascal cards.  >:(

Im thinking of building a mini itx system now that the PS4 is dead.

Should prob wait for Pascal but here are the builds Im thinking of now (will play on 1080p telly)

i5-6600
geforce 960 or 950
8 ram

Also considering i3-6100 with a 950

Not sure yet if I'm gonna get the 1080 or the 1070, but it looks like either one is going to be a massive jump over my 750 ti.

Don't think I'll be able to resist pulling the trigger on the 1070 at the very least...

I'll probably go for a 1080. Haven't decided yet if I'm going to use it with my current computer or build a new one.

Looking at a 1080. 970 struggles with 1440p right now

I could never get used to Pascal's weird syntax. I dunno if it's more efficient though.

figured out my electricity saving, seems the 1080 will be 180w and my 2 cards take 450w, so thats a nice saving, doesa nyone know how much electricity that could save over a 1 year period?

plan on buying a 600 euro toy, think of saving 20 bucks a year on electricity

Might save up for a 1070 - though my 480 still handles most things well enough at 1080.

it's not about the money, it's about whether you will still be able to occasionally enjoy a good seven minutes of quality PC gaming time after just an hour of working the hand-cranked generator you'll rely on after the Day of Correction.
