Title: Can someone clear this up for me?

Are american conservatives conservative because they truly believe in the conservative ideology or are they conservative just so they can piss off american liberals? I guess I just can't imagine anyone truly believing in conservative ideals in our modern liberalized world.

I used the word "american" to designate between true conservatism and liberalism and what we label as conservative a liberal in the US.

most non-Jesus conservatives hate taxes, like guns, and just want you to leave 'em the fuck alone with your hippie bullshit. seriously, i can get behind that, and HOW. shame about all the OTHER issues out there, though; y'know, the ones that aren't as clear cut.

those non-jesus conservatives seem to be a dying breed in terms of sway in the party. Too bad they were cool while they lasted.

Look what the once "non-Jesus" conservatives like McCain have to do to themselves these days to get the nomination
