I hear about a lot of entrepreneurial types moving there to focus on their online business ideas while living dirt cheap in relative comfort. :yeshrug

There's a lot of political instability there. And not like "I live in the west, everything looks unstable in comparison" instability. Do you want to get caught in a Shinawatra coup /counter-coup? #FreeThaksin

And to head off the telegraphed Bore punchline, Israel is an emigration destination for me because it would be reasonably easy for me to acquire citizenship there (big ups, Nuremberg Laws), not because I think it has a better political system.

Be honest.

You want to kill someone, and no one cares about Palestinians.

As the venerable Thaksin Shinawatra--the longest serving democratically elected prime minister of Thailand--said when Der Spiegel accused him to his face of being responsible for the deaths of thousands in his war on drugs, "I'm a Buddhist, and I believe that those who kill will be killed themselves in their next life."

I could move to Thailand and be married in a month, easily. The girl would probably be pretty quality too.

It's an outstanding country, btw.

Never trust a man who takes solo trips to Thailand.

Had a friend who went to Thailand, got drunk, forgot the currency rates, tried to pay his prostitute the equivalent of 8 bucks, nearly got the hell beat out of him.

Assuming you're not going for reasons that would appeal to the average GAF member, I remembered hearing that the month to month costs are really closer to $1500/mo if you want a decent standard of living.  If that's the case then a low cost area in the US would be just as good.

There is a big thing with Internet entrepreneurs who want to relocate to Thailand but it doesn't seem worth it to me.  I mean compared to NYC or SF sure but there are many areas that offer a high quality lifestyle without going to a poor country.

Our resident office creeper went to Thailand alone for a week recently.  Dude hovers behind women and tries to hug them.  He also posts nothing selfies on FB.  I bet he was right at home there.  :doge

Lost s1 and s5 are god-tier.

Shame about s4 and especially s6 though, almost completely sour the whole experience.

I hold such an irrational hatred for the fat guy on that show. Just pure vinegar in my heart for him. To the point where I'd skip every scene he spoke in by s3. That stupid serious fat fuck face he makes everytime another character would kinda rope him into some shit graaaah

Can't do lost.

Can say

Seasons 1,4,5,10, and 11 are worthwhile on supernatural. The rest are above average but filler.

Still in my opinion it's better than x files, so eat dicks.

Kinda surprised Toku. Hugo was the type of conciliatory go-between character that reminds me of you. Like real talk, while many of the characters focused on threats or mysteries or supernatural shit Hugo was always focused on the human aspect of being on an island with people. Treating people right, ensuring certain cultural things were continued (he's the one who wanted to have the funeral ceremony for the crash victims who died), diffusing drama, talking sense into people, giving people a hug when they needed it, and giving people real talk when they were in the wrong. I always liked him for that. A show like Lost needs a character like that and who better to have that role than the unassuming, fat guy who no one is threatened by and who can level with anyone he talks to.

Honestly when you think about it Lost was really a collection of tropes with strong, multi faceted characters. One of my favorite things about the early seasons was how the power dynamics of the group played out, especially after everyone settled into their role/trope. You had the Hero, Jack, constantly coming up with plans or goals for everyone else. But in order to sell it he always went to someone like Sayid or my man Locke first, to sell it. Likewise if someone wasn't fucking with Jack's plan they always would go to Sayid or Locke to feel out whether they could overrule him. And of course Hugo would often be involved in selling shit to the masses as well. That shit was always fun.

s4 only seems good in comparison with the slow-as-molasses s3. On its own, it's a cut down season that is total shit. The only exception is Desmond's episode (which is among the series' best, it must be said.)

s5 is consistent and well-written with a clear endgame from beginning to end.

I only like S1. The opening episodes are the best, but Desmond's episode in S4 is great, too. Everything else is shit. Fuck that cave. Fuck that smoke monster.

Thailand is (despite the name) not an island tho?
I guess we could get it here by chaining a Lost GIF with some advanced applications of a Bugs Bunny GIF.
