:hyper I hope it can bring back some of the darkness of the old show. Shit, I'm just glad it's not the car version.
-
Awesome.
Also just remembered oddly enough that I much preferred this show

To Voltron when I was a kid.

Looks sexy as hell.
Which animation studio is developing it? I am assuming Dreamworks is not doing this themselves.
-
Wiki says Studio Mir, which did Korra and Boondocks.
Apparently the people producing it are veterans of Korra and some DCAU stuff.

Thanks, I was just wondering about what Korra peeps were doing. It's is on sale, the entire run of the show, for $29 on iTunes. I am waffling on grabbing it.

Watched first season. It's solidly watchable. Not great. It's not bad though. Weaker than what I've seen of Korra. More solidly aimed at kids or the nostalgia crowd which it works for.
I would watch a second season if it gets picked up again.

found out the other day that not only is voltron American, but it was created in St Louis. confused the hell out of me

As far as I know its only American in the sense that its a japanese show that was originally brought over and reconfigured for America. That use to happen a lot in the 80's. I grew up loving Robotech rather than Macross.
Not being aware of any of this as a kid, I didn't understand how there were two voltrons. The lion one and the vehicle one. I was also the rare kid who was more partial to the vehicle force one. It seemed a lot darker by comparison.

Wait, Korra is not a Japanese show? U.S. studios are doing anime now?
:confused
It was produced by Nickelodeon dude.

Korra was created in 'Murica and clearly went for that "anime" look. Production was done by Korean and Japanese studios.
With Voltron, I guess the look is fitting...the original was a redubbed anime import anyway.

Dis show is cool. Watched the first episode.
-
WTF there were two Voltrons? :ohhh

Voltron is American in the same way that Robotech is American. They took an anime called Beast King GoLion and reworked it for American audiences.
-
So the same way Chinese food is American.

Season 2 now available.
-
Finally!
-
The original Voltron looked cooler. Not a fan of the updated version.
The show itself is good - just not the lead mech.
-
I LOVE THIS SHOW.
-
I got 4 episodes left which I'll most likely finish today. Liking just as much as the first season so far.
-
Scratch that. The last few episodes put it way over the first season for me. :rejoice
Now the wait begins again. I guess I'll do Dreamworks a solid and start watching Trollhunters.
-
I don't know how they did it but this is the first time in an animated thing that the use of CGI doesn't look awful. The look of Voltron and the lions is super friggin cool.
-
Anyone watch season 3 year?
I really liked it. Far better villain with a better cast of characters. And the story is progressing really nicely. It feels like they've spent time to plot out story well beforehand.
Show feels more like Avatar than Korra that way which is a good thing.
-
I still need to finish season 2
-
I watched it all on Saturday. The new villain is much more interesting and I loved all the backstory that they gave us on Voltron's origin. I'm also excited that the next season comes out this October. :hyper
