Game itself is dirt cheap and the necessary bongos are sold by a lot of online vendors. Might get a Gamecube in better condition and start building up my gamecube collection more. Jungle Beat would by my next purchase, there was a Wii version, but the Wii is lame.
There are still new copies of Katamari Damacy being sold for 10-15 bucks.
-
whew what a game to start the thread off with. jungle beat was a fucking fantastic game.
-
I always remembered the bongos for something called Donkey Konga, and I thought Konga was Jungle Beat when it came to gameplay. I was mistaken, Donkey Konga was a bong based rhythm game.

donkey konga is one of the worst music games ever made. you played bongos to shit like on the road again and the pokemon theme. it was so fucking stupid.
jungle beat on the other hand was the first game made by the team that went on to make Mario Galaxy. you needed proper timing to pull off combos, and if you played it right you could combo thru the whole stage seamlessly. it was soooo fun.
I'm trying to think of some other good stuff really available. i feel like there's plenty of ps1 and ps2 games that are available for cheap rn because a lot of ppl aren't focused on them now.
-
This thread was made for GOD HAND.
Also, I'd suggest Guardian's Crusade for PS1. Dirt cheap as far as PS1 RPGs go, and a pretty fun, simplistic, unpretentious game that was a nice counterpoint to the sprawling, dark epics of that era.
Wild Woody is a SEGA CD platformer with some weird-ass music and concepts.
Puggsy on Genesis/SEGA CD is one of the weirdest mascot characters ever, reminds me a bit of Mr. Bucket.
-
God Hand isn't really that cheap, checking on Ebay now the North American copies are around $45+ for used copies. Japanese copies are cheap but the PS2 is region locked.
EDIT: Damn, didn't know it was sold on PSN.
-
I might still have my copy of GH. (While I gave away my entire collection two years ago I kept a few games that were worth money.) Would give it away to the right Borean if they need it and don't mind getting mail from a funny name.
Actually, this would be an opportune time to divest myself of all these games. Will get a full list.
-
I think I still have my copy with no manual. You're telling me it goes for $45? Shiiiiiit, I should dump it since I think it's a weak Mikami game. :lol

I'd love to see the list when you have it ready...

Rising Zan is still has sealed copies available on Amazon for under six bucks (shipping not included).

PS2 era has a lot of good RPGs you can get for cheap - All the Wild Arms (aside from Alter Code F, the worst one but also ~$70), Suikoden Tactics, Shadow Hearts: Covenant, Radiata Stories, Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria, Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter. I'd jump on these now, since (Japanese) RPGs are one of the genres that tend to rapidly increase in value through the years.
Panzer Dragoon Orta on Xbox is the best game on that system and also not really that expensive. Absolutely brilliant art direction and music, and fun rail-shooter gameplay. It's by far the cheapest of the series.
Speaking of which, the original Xbox is one of the cheapest libraries to collect for, especially if you like obscure/niche western platformers, racers, and shooters.
For some reason, you'd think that Guardian Legend would be really high in price, as it was quite niche back in the day with a strong cult following, but it's probably $10-15. Really unique hybrid of overhead Zelda-style exploration and fast-paced shmup. Made by Compile of Aleste and Puyo Puyo fame.
And on Saturn there's Galactic Attack/Layer Section. Game is cheap as hell, and quite good. It's a 2D vertical shmup... I got it for $10.50... which is a steal compared to how expensive most Saturn shmups tend to be.
Every Extend Extra PSP is going for under $5, sealed. It's one of my favorite games on the platform... a game where you blow yourself up to set off chains of explosions, the larger the explosion the more points and the more 'extends' you get. Created by Tetsuya Mizuguchi of Rez fame. Stylized, hypnotic Rez-like graphics when it was still novel and before every trendy indie game under the sun aped the style. Great, banging techno soundtrack before the genre went all mnml in the mid 2000's (and all drumcode big-room style in the mid 2010's).
Quarth on Game Boy is a cool hybrid of Tetris and shmup, very original and relatively inexpensive.

Wow, there's a lot I'd love from that list. If you wouldn't mind, here's my top wants from there:
1. Persona
2. Aria of Sorrow
3. Metroid Fusion
4. Metroid Zero Mission
5. Fire Emblem
6. Demikids
-
I picked Koudelka btw, as much as my love should have it more, I deserve it more-er
Now I am Shadow Hearts fan #1
-
I'd rather be rid of all this so you can have up to 3 per person.
demi can pick his remaining 2, then Joe, then tiesto.
-
Alright then, if you're serious:
I pick
Koudelka
Persona (sorry Tiesto, but I am Persona fan #1)
MS Saga
-
I want the two Fire Emblems, Kara-sama. :preach
-
I never joke about the allocation of resources from each according to their ability to each according to their need. :bolo
pre-waifu Fire Emblems, you got it Joe. :money
tiesto, Aria of Sorrow, Metroid Fusion, Metroid Zero Mission good for your haul?

Awesome, be sure to PM me a name and address everyone.
And if you don't want a joke on the package. (e.g. The return address on Joe's is going to be Joachim von Ribbentrop unless he asks me not to.)
And if you want tracking.

-
Damn it Koudelka
-
on topic :
phantom breaker is on xbla and it's cheap and fun as hell. solid beat em up with with great mechanics. the one big caveat is that you have to play as little anime girls, but the game doesn't have any panty shots or innuendo or bullshit like that.
-
The Neverhood
And Skullmonkeys
-
I think I still have a sealed copy of Donkey Konga 2. I bought it and the Bongos and the original game for like $15 brand new at Gamestop years and years ago.
-
I pick this game:
Swagman (PS1) -- goes for about 15-20 on ebay
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEEMT3DAZeU
-
Waiiiit, Persona 1 as in "Revelations: Persona" or Persona 2?
-
Revelations
-
The Neverhood
On what platform does that work? I recall that on PC it was one of the earliest examples of DirectX changes screwing up people's ability to play their stuff. Was a DX8 to 9 change? It broke everything on Neverhood IIRC.
-
Oh, that's sad :( I had or have (not sure) a copy of the PC version somewhere
Edit: Looks like you can download it from abandonware sites, so there's probably a way to get it running
-
I used to play it on Windows XP, but I haven't played it more recently than then.
-
Someone please grab that Astro Boy Omega factor from Kara
That game is pure :lawd :lawd
-
Send it to me I'll play it
-
do it demi that game is treasure magic
-
i'm just a nobody who didn't post much and bailed when Kara and others I liked stopped posting here (R.I.P. amazing Blossom recaps)
but if Kara's back maybe I can participate again! And not just under the auspices of begging for Astroboy and Demikids if nobody else is really gonna take them.
-
I like your style, larry, consider them yours. Be sure to PM the requested information.
e: The computer I had all my Blossom stuff got fried and I still haven't recovered the data. One day I will resume my quest.
-
PM sent, really really amazing gesture, your taste in obscura is Von Oy tier
-
Fatal Fury wouldn't be bad to have. If I had a Dreamcast. Which I don't. :doge
