I was a big Pantera fan in high school. my friends were only interested in talking about avenged sevenfold and lamb of god. This left me in the peculiar position where I, the guy who listened to 90s mtv groove metal, was engaging in boundary-work to differentiate myself from the plebs. this was ca. 2009

Cowboys, while their least embarrassing tape in retrospect, is still a 5/12 on the esch scale; Vulgar and FBD are garage workout music; Trendkill is the thrash metal equivalent of a later wu-tang album, i.e., when they started emailing their verses to RZA; Reinventing is maybe the most vapid album I've ever pretended I've listened to

it really goes without saying that Dime's guitarwork was the whole point of that band, I still think you can scrounge out 12 nice tracks from their catalogue

NOLA is a great album front to back I will fight you tooth and nail over that one breh :bolo

Back in the 90's I got to see Pantera, Sepultura, and Biohazard at Darien Lake. It was awesome until my brother's jerk friend decided to break off the back of his chair and fling it forward into the crowd like a frisbee. I'm sure it ruined someones day.
