Solution: stop giving a shit about Metacritic.

But then how am I going to get external validation for my choice in games?

There's not even a HL2 "pick up the can" reference to make Jensen feel at least a tiny bit of oppression, huh? Doesn't sound like much of an "uh oh", all told.

I will say though, analogue sticks are the worst 'button' on modern controllers.

All sounded pretty good to me. Then again I'll be on M&K.

Just played like 5 mins into it and controls got complicated from before lol. I don't remember needing to use the F-keys to activate my augmentations. But then again I haven't played HE for a long time. So have to get back into the swing of things. Had to turn it off so I can go to sleep soon. But did watch the 12min catch up video and I don't remember some of the details from before like the ex-wife. So hopefully will catch me up to speed later in the game.

So far it's running pretty smooth on my GTX970. No 2k/4k resolutions here for me.

I got spotted, but it was close enough to the helicopter that I was able to take out the one guy that was close to it that it wasn't a problem. The invisibility aug is probably the best way to handle that situation when you're moving outside of cover.

Game's pretty good so far, and it looks fantastic [even though my 1070's getting beat into the dirt by the ultra settings, I'm going to drop it down to very high and see how that works out]. Looking forward to the game opening up so I can mess around with side quests and secrets.

I decided to go with the new controls, instead of one of the alternate choices, since it's been long enough ago that I played Human Revolution that I don't remember much about the controls other than the really basic stuff. It takes a bit of getting used to, but it's not that bad.

Probably spent more time ransacking apartments than I have actually doing my primary mission.

Game hasn't clicked with me yet but I just got to Prague so we'll see. It's been awhile since I played HR but I feel clumsier in this.

It definitely gets a lot better once the games opens up and starts giving you more freedom

Beat it this morning. It was fun. I liked Prague and Golem City. Those places were really dense with people; they felt real and full of life. Golem City, in particular, is pulled straight out of cyberpunk. Super dense, gritty, grimy, it was perfect. Wish I spent more time there. Graphics were pretty good. They stopped using the Tourette animation. And they got rid of that shitty CG cutscenes from the other game, as well. They restrained themselves on the Neo-Renaissance art and fashion.

The story is thin.

You spend almost the entire game trying to figure out who has been planting the bombs, but it's pretty obvious who it was from when you meet Marchenko in Golem City or even just watched the trailers.

The ending sneaks up on you. You can feel it ramping up, but then it's just blam - it's there.

The boss fight

It's refreshing to beat the final boss with a single takedown.

They could have set the whole game in Golem City and I would have been happy. What a great location.

Mmm I'm so hot for this. A lot of my sexy Quebecois homeys were burning the midnight oil on this, can't wait to dig into it once I finish Bloodlines.

uh oh

sounds like it will still be rad, i don't really dig Jensens character, but i still loved Human Revolution. Plus, I'm used to ham-fisted allegory in main stream sci-fi.

Did the first half of the Harvester side-quest today. It was really great, makes me wish that we could have a whole game where you're just a futuristic cyber-detective solving crimes. All the side-quests so far have been pretty good, that's one thing that Mankind Divided has really nailed.

Ugh, just hit a game-breaking bug near the very end of the game. Every time I head back through the subway to my apartment [right after Dvali base], I get a CTD. No way around it for now, but there's supposed to be a patch for it in the next few days, though.

So how was this game?  Seems like it was really awaited, came out and then a week later no one is talking about it anymore.  Better/about the same/worse than the previous game?

It's pretty similar to Human Revolution, but with a better hub area and no awful boss battles. I've really liked it.

Yeah, hopefully the game making stays at the level, the western studios have had quite a good output critically speaking.

Also, a sequel is already in dev for Deus Ex, so there's that.

which may be the other half of this game cut off.  :P

The bad news however is that they expect to move 3m units (I'd imagine within a few months of launch / at full price) to break even.

Yeah, I really dig this game but man is there a general air of apathy about the game after the release.

I should be playing that but instead I'm posting here, lol. :derp

Finished this today, and I gotta say it was kind of a letdown. Fighting the controls was kind of a pain, but I had fun for most of the game. The last third wound up feeling like a chore though. I played most of it going stealth/non-lethal, but by the end I wound up just 'run and gunning' as much as you can in the game, killing anyone who I didn't feel like waiting to move and I just stopped giving a shit about raising alarms. It didn't help that it ran like absolute shit on my machine.

I noticed the side missions were mostly more interesting than the main story too, but that's not a huge complaint as I didn't expect much from a goofy ass BLM allegory anyway
