Final Fantasy XV Is Only Open World In The First Half While The Second Half Goes Linear
Out of time, out of money.

I'd have rather the opposite, like most traditional RPGs.

One open field. Then a bunch of corridors.

Don't really know what this means without playing the game though? I doubt it means it becomes like FFXIII. Could still mean it has open environments, but has a greater focus on following the main missions. Which is actually kind of what he says at the end. "Chose to follow the main route" seems to imply to me that there's still other stuff to do in the 2nd half.
Either way, I hope his game is like Xenoblade. Big environments, but still a linear main mission.
I don't mind, because at the end of the day I'm not such a big open world fan and prefer more focused games.

I'd rather have it turn into a book like XG disc2 than a linear hallway like FFXIII. We'll see...

I'm honestly more worried about their still very vague but apparently extensive DLC plans. As much riding on this game as they've got, they'd be nuts to hobble it so they can sell a swankier season pass (and then some, as they've stated)]. But Square Enix is nothing if not the most self-sabotaging publisher this side of Sega, so who knows. it's been clear that this game will have a fuckton of dlc, at least enough for intermittent releases throughout 2017. i wouldn't be surprised if a asset-recycling sequel is already planned. they need to milk this fucker dry to recoup costs.

So it is the reverse of FFXIII a game which actually got worse the more open it got.
