- Mario runs automatically to the right, and jumps over gaps and enemies by tapping on the screen. The longer you tap, the higher and longer Mario jumps.

RIP controls.

Nintendo hopping on the winning train.

One step closer to full 3rd party

I would have also accepted "Shitty Mario Announced" as a thread title.

The auto-runner stages of NSMB2 and NES Remix were pretty weak, so meh. But probably better they do things this way instead of trying to shoehorn a full-fledged platformer onto touch-screen dpads.

In 2010(ish), when I first got into mobile gaming, I thought we'd be a lot further along than this in 2016.

In 2002 or 2003 I was playing NES, Game Gear/SMS, and TG-16 games on my Palm Treo, which had a d-pad and buttons.  Full console games on the go with decent controls.

And in 2016...it's a bunch of generally shitty little mini games with crappy touch controls.  It has only gotten worse.  Better graphics...same crappy controls.

On my flight to Japan I played through all of Policenauts on a Samsung OLED tablet with a USB controller. I felt like the future had finally arrived

Disclaimer: The flight was 2/3rds empty so the only person who looked at me and was ashamed was the flight attendant, who later told me she loves anime

"This is absolutely not under consideration," Nintendo's Satoru Iwata told Nikkei (via Andriasang).

"If we did this, Nintendo would cease to be Nintendo."

You can register on the app store to be notified when this is available. I can't remember any other game having that directly on the app store.

Waifu material there, sir. Just imagine your ability to satisfy her on so many nerd levels while she introduces you to the Mile High Club's secret "cargo entrance."

This will be what Mario is for the next generation.

I weep for them. :doge
Tasty, how are you coping? You love Nintendo, but hate Apple. Surely this must be washing across your synapses like a logic bomb.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
Just kidding: We know this will be hot garbage like Miitomo and its gacha / pachinko gameplay, or Pokemon Go.
