Original is the best open world game Rockstar has done. Play it u mung.

I mean MAAAAN do I love GTA5 but Read Dead was fucking incredible when it came out. Fixed all the terrible shit from GTA4 and had awesome personality and presence.

The Xbone BC version is actually pretty good. Has a better framerate than the 360 somehow.

I messed with it when BC was live - I have the "complete edition"

I haven't gone through all of the first game on Xbone so I might do that once I get sick of Gears. Not a ton of new releases I'm looking forward to until next year anyway.

Looks good.  Honestly it looks like how I remember RDR to look like, as I thought it was the most gorgeous world to roam around at the time, but seeing screens of RDR these days it doesn't look all that pretty, the graphics are dated.  So RDR2 brings the environments back up to nice looking wilderness again.

Definitely stoked for it.  Don't even care about the story/missions though I hope they're good.  With RDR I just really enjoyed hanging out in a nice looking wilderness sandbox world riding horses.  It's been enough years that I could totally go for doing that again.  Plus hey, canoes now!

Looks lovely, I wanted massive wilderness areas and I can see those, more detailed towns, those trains ahhh  :heartbeat

And I'm still expecting a switcheroo with who the main character or characters are.

Multi on 360 was pretty damn incredible.  I honestly don't want them to change it much and especially not to be more like gta online.

RDR not coming to PC was the crime of the century.

By now modders would have made it look better than RDR2 ever will on console.

Yup me too.  Made no sense why it never came.  I'm pretty sure they tried porting at one point but I remember hearing the engine was pretty custom and I think they had trouble getting it to PC.

there was an article on kotaku i think where Rockstar claimed that the code was a fucking mess and it was extremely hard to get the console version running properly on time. seemed that's why they weren't attempting to port it.

Yeah, apparently the whole thing was basically held together by string. Miracle it got out as well as it did.

Hopefully not the case for this one so we get a PC port sooner than later.  :doge

It'll be out in Fall 2017 as promised.

Curious to see how much effect the departure of Leslie Benzies has had on this game. He was the one that effectively "saved" it from development hell.

Yeah I'm interested too. It's the first title since he left. From what I've read about the lawsuit he's made himself out to be the glue holding the company together, which I'm sure is a huge embellishment. But considering they pulled him in to save the first one and the stuff said about what a mess the code is, I am curious. PS2 era rockstar had a charming jankiness to their titles, so I could see the potential for them to backslide, though I don't really expect that to happen.

True about PS2-era Rockstar jankiness, but R* San Diego built RDR and apparently a good portion of GTA V. From a friend who worked on RDR, the studio is not the most pleasant place to work. I can only imagine the kind of politics involved when everyone wants credit for working on a game that sells that well.
