Title: I took my first guitar lessons today
Post by: Himu on January 25, 2007, 04:20:38 PM: Learned how to hold it correctly, do some chords, tune, clean it. My teacher said to balance between playing with my index finger and a pick, but I'm playing with my finger the time being, until I get my callouses togheter. Speaking of which, playing it doesn't really hurt my fingers at all. In fact, the thing that hurts the most are the positions of my left fingers when I hold it. I have to get used to that position, and it's the thing that's giving me the most trouble for now.

During chords sometimes my fingers will rest on another string, and I have trouble remembering to raise my finger and pressing hard on the string behind the fret.

It's pretty fun so far, and I don't really mind playing chords. I guess I have a lot of patience.

Post by: CajoleJuice on January 25, 2007, 04:39:48 PM: I have to get back to teaching myself guitar. I was up to where you are after your first lesson and just basically stopped. My left hand positioning gave me the most trouble too. But apparently my acoustic guitar neck is warped and my strings sit pretty far off the neck, making it even harder to play. >:(

Like right now I'm telling myself to go pick up the guitar and play but I don't feel like getting up. Maybe because I'm shot from the gym - which I will probably stop going to in a few months.

Have you tried giving up sexual intercourse with the couch?
