anyone give this thing a try? it's a rogue-like meets dark souls meets f2p thing from Grasshoper/Suda 51
you're goal is to climb the 'tower of barbs' which is a tower or something in japan. you fight enemies, bosses, collect loot, craft items, level up. when you die you lose everything and have to start over as a new character.
I played it for about an hour or so and was having a fucking ton of difficulty with it. getting my ass killed in the first room after getting bumrushed by 2-3 enemies. trying to play it like dark souls and failing pretty quick.
it's got a character names uncle death who is a skeleton in a trench coat who skateboards around. also apparently the whole thing is actually just an arcade game you're playing?
it's weird

Game is greaaaat. But so far apparently no one has beat it and it's questionable whether there is even an end/top. So it's a F2P game where you keep grinding your way up a tower, getting new weapons/loot/stats and the grind never ends. That sorta kills the motivation for me because it feels like a carrot on a stick and you never get the carrot. At least MMOs have endings. Then again, I guess F2P games usually don't, so yeah. But I don't play F2P games.
I'll play some more after I beat all the other games I'm playing now. But not sure if I'll stick with it as long as there is no end.

The worst thing about the game for me so far is how easy you get stun-locked. I keep trying to play it like Dark Souls and roll away when I'm getting attack but instead I'll just get fucking stuck and get killed.

The only ending F2P games tend to have is when the developer pulls the plug because it isn't making enough money.

I ended up buying a bunch of the Death Medals so I can revive. Managed to beat the first major boss at level 10 and got to the next area tileset. I like that the game keeps rolling out mechanics back at the waiting area.
