yeah right Zuckenberg
It is pretty common when you announce a big deal or do something like that all kinds of people come out of the woodwork and claim that they just own some portion of the deal.
Like most people in the court, I’ve never even heard of ZeniMax before. I know that our legal team would look into this and examine but they aren’t going to take a lot of my time on something they don’t think is credible.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he might know who you're talking about if you said Bethesda since they did have that quirky situation where they were publishing under Bethesda while also having the separate studio named Bethesda for years before they finally shifted over clearly to ZeniMax as the publishing arm even though they had bought themselves over a decade earlier.
I seem to remember some "ZENIMAX BUYS BETHESDA" type stories in the gaming press. Especially around the id acquisition, like they were some new company not just one renamed.
I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest Zuckerburg doesn't spend a lot of day-to-day time on the details of his empire. I base this on every instance in which he talks about it.

Wait, this dude hired Carmack from iD but never actually bothered playing any of their games which are plastered with the Zenimax logo, or I guess even looking at his resumé? What the fuck?
-
Are we sure this is real news? Seems fake.
-
bull fucking shit Zuckerberg never played Skyrim
-
I'll be honest, apart from their logo on Bethesda games I know nothing about them.

There's not much to know, since they're just an umbrella company established by Bethesda's founders
-
All I know about Zenimax is that they sound like they are one of the mega-corporations from the RoboCop universe.
Yet I still want them to win.

When Bethesda started buying up other companies the internal studio wanted to differentiate between Bethesda games (Elder Scrolls, Fallout) and their published titles (which would later include owned stuff like Dishonored and Doom but at the time included stuff like the masterpiece Rogue Warrior, the Pirates of the Caribbean license, Wet, the Star Trek license, etc.) in a clearer way. ZeniMax was already the legal name of the overall holding company they just never used it beyond that.

I interned at Bethesda when Zenimax happened. Real interesting. OMG how come I age and Todd Howard doesn't?

:comeon :gurl If that photo of you in the Mirror's Edge thread was right... :comeon

AFAIK, Zenimax is nothing but a Beth redirect name for their publishing arm. Beth Softworks is Elderscrolls and badly managed Interplay IP's. Zenimax is what they publish non-Beth stuff under IIRC.

Thanks for clearing it up, I assumed it was some large media conglomerate or something that owned Bethesda.
-
Sounds like John Carmack being too honest is probably gonna cost Zuckerberg a few million.
-
I remember Morrowind on PC listing them as a "Zenimax company". I think the only other game they had coming at the time was Sea Dogs.
-
Zenimax has been awarded 500 million usd :lol

... honestly never heard of ZeniMax until this thread, so

It'll probably get reduced on appeal, but it's a pretty big blow for Oculus regardless.
