Yeah but still youll prob adopt some kids one day ;)

Ill post some pics soon, house is not quite finished yet missing backsplash tiles in the kitchen (going to be white metro tiles) and well prob replace the floor in hall/kitchen

I can't wait until the rest of my furniture gets here. I took a "before" pic but there's no way I'm posting it until I have the "after" one ready.

Problem is with my place 100% of the walls are a light yellow and after 5 years here it almost makes me physically sick to look at it. No character at all and just looks sickly. Combine that with the dull gray rug and... :-\

Only here for another year... just gotta keep telling myself that...

Here's some pics of my place.  Well...from right when we bought it.  Two bed/two bath with an extra sunroom. It's not modern, but they did get rid of all the carpeting (except for outside on the balcony.  Outdoor carpeting  :-X) and it was right in our price range, so we jumped on it.  It was literally the only place in the area at that price.  Since then the value has already gone up like $20-$25K, which seems insane.  The master bathroom isn't really my style, but it's pretty damn nice, albeit small.  They definitely spent some money on it.  We haven't done too much apart from replace most of those nasty looking dated 1950s style lights and ditched the curtains (they were filthy) for blinds.

Nah.  Just ride it out and paint the next place.  I mean, you're not selling it off or anything.  No reason to bother unless you really think it's gonna make things better for that remaining 12 months left on the contract.

Yeah, if you're doing a solid color painting is really easy. I've painted every single room in my house at this point, doesn't even take too long. The biggest pain is covering stuff up if you're a messy painter.

And trim.

Subway tile is awesome. I did the full basement bathroom with it and then did our shower on our main floor with it.

All that white gets a little sterile, but if that's what you want, it's cool.

That's way more my style, Tasty.  It's got some contemporary feel but it looks way more inviting and livable than a cold room full of sharp edged furniture.

But I imagine myself in that whiteness, curled up with a white comforter looking out the window as it snows with a cup of coffee and a book. And I'm warm.

The white aesthetic works with modern construction I guess, but I can't imagine walking into all white rooms in my old brick Tudor.

And thank you for not going with the Tabris patented sharp-edged IKEA bachelor pad.

I agree, but I also dig black and white. My room is switching over to black and white, but my living room is going to be red (chairs/sofa) and white (surfaces like the coffee table.) I think in general I'll be mostly white + one solid color to pop out.

I'd be cool if I was told to live in an all-white space though. I've lived in a yellow hell for the past five years and I didn't even like it. :lol

Ill be honest, I dont make any real decisions about our house interior. Before we moved to this place we agreed what my wife could spend on decorating and what i could spend on improving the house. Sure she asks me what I want and what I think but its her project.

@tasty: gundam is not wrong, you need a bit of colour here and there. doesnt need to be crazy.

Oh yeah I love it, even the posters/are she picks is all what I like, like Edward Hopper and Klint and vintage te travel posters of places close to us. Made her so happy too she can have everything her way, its what she always wanted. She studied architechture so she hs strong opinions on this stuff

Also like Gundams point your interior should respect the house you live in, reflect it.

I honestly can't stand white colors in a living space, unless it's either part of an accent or heavily accented itself. Like, the pictures that Tasty Meat posted are just completely off-putting and boring to me.  That's why my bedroom has natural wood flooring, wood panel wainscoting, and ocean-blue paint on the upper half of the wall. Thought about painting the ceiling tiles, too, but ultimately left them as the only white in my room.

I wish all white led to sterility... I generally stick to a white/neutral palette as I move every couple of years and the housing is usually white with beige carpet/faux wood... can't put in a lot of dark furniture without it looking jarring. and while i can paint, previous leases for the places i occupy make you paint it back... so pass. thankfully you can get large canvasses cheaply and I've been having my kids do squiggle/splatter art on them so it gives a nice jolt of energy to the whole affair.

also, generally i like to mix cheap and expensive stuff... so I have a pine ikea table (not *cheap*, but certainly not an heirloom item) mixed with plated servewares and the like.

Bottom two are nice but the rest lose me with the cusetey arts and crafts shitz. 3rd has a white rolling cabinet which is mad scust IMO. Should be a proper cart of some design. I would like to see more anachronistic elements in the designs too, like a proper baroque chair and victorian table wares.
