The country of oriign is America, but if the cooking style is French then it woudl still be a French style soup.

This assumes he continues to make the soup New York. If it's just a visit and he goes back to France to populate it, then its French all around.

Yep, you got me. It sucks.

I also don't taste raw tomatoes correctly. They taste like acid mixed with wet grass. Cook them a little though and they are very good!
