sorry, decade+ old fangasm finally released.
CC2 just made a BRAND NEW .HACK GAME VOLUME...in PS2 graphics...as a sequel to .Hack/Gu...as Vol.4 to the .Hack/Gu trilogy remaster.
CC2 is crazy! WTF I don't want to replay .Hack/Gu! But...omg ALL NEW .HACK GAME

I never got around to Gu back in the day so I'm pretty hype for all four chapters of this myself.
-
I can't believe this is a thing but I'm sold.
Hopefully this is successful enough to warrant an IMOQ remaster because fuck paying eBay prices for that shit.
-
.hack is my shit.
Well, mostly SIGN. Because it's a masterpiece. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCWXPM0xx2c)
Never played the games, and Roots was kinda shit.
But I'm looking forward to getting this when I get a PS4.
-
I bought four copies of Universal Theme Parks Adventure for the Gamecube on clearance at Hastings for $2.50, then traded them in at Gamestop for $15 each and bought .Hack//Infection in 2002.
15 years later, now we're here.
-
Is there any more detail on it?
It'll probably have Haseo kicking a bomb on Besaid Island with Yuna and blowing his head off

Simultaneous global release. :lawd
Yuri Lowenthal back as Haseo :lawd
All these gameplay QoL improvements :lawd
-
they made that many .hack games on ps2? holy shit.
-
.hack was really enjoyable. Cant wait to play this version, I never played GU.
-
It's great that we're getting a Steam version. I missed out on the PS2 games.

Same. I'll def check this out.

The PS2 had 8 .hack games [including one actual MMO].
-
I thought there were like 3 or 4. wtf
-
4 in the original quadrilogy, 3 in the sequel trilogy (G.U.)
Never heard of this MMO. :wtf
-
There were some more games, but they were sucky and low budget and didn't get US releases. The main games that are legit are the original Quad & the Gu trilogy which was an improvement in a lot of gameplay & graphics ways but a step down in story & music (original quadrilogy had a great exciting story and amazing music).
I'd totally play a full new series, games were essentially B-ware Diablo-likes with repitition and loot.

Simultaneous global release. :lawd
Fucking yes. :rejoice

Resing an old thread and double posting (double asshole!) to post this comparison video

New version looks a bit sharper but not like a native current gen game cause it's not, wee~

I played an hourish. It's .hack alright.
-
Wish I could afford it right now. :'(
Hopefully Namdai pushes out plenty of copies of these and it doesn't end up as hard to find as any copy of the PS2 games.
-
Forgot I ordered this. Whoops.
I'd totally play the new vol.4, but .hack/gu isn't really a good enough game to spend the time replaying vol.1-3 when I could be playing better games. If there's a cheat code to skip to vol.4 or some way to import saves on ps4 I'm in. Otherwise I'll just feel alright having supported CC2 a bit more and hope for a new .Hack or Asura's Wrath game someday.
-
You can pick whichever volume you want to play right at the start, including vol. 4.
-
OMG
Thank you CC2!
-
isamu?
-
Haha, I just really like CC2 and its nice to see a new non-Naruto game from them.
-
CC2 needs to make a new Asura's Wrath. Or an HD remaster.
-
Man, jumping into vol.4 this is so nostalgic and cool. I wish more Japanese developers would make small budget PS2-graphic w/modern IQ sequels to PS2-era stuff. I'm totally fine with these level of visuals.
That being said I gotta watch a summary of vol.1-3 cause I don't remember shit.
-
switch?
-
no bitch
-
>:(
I want games on the switch, even if they are games I have never had interest in and will never play. stfu, demi. :maf
-
So I played the first dungeon of vol.4 and I don't know what I'm doing because 15 years ago, but did .hack/gu always have a terrible simple battle system? Like it seems you just punch a few times until you can do the trigger arts and then you do the weapon one that is the weakness against the enemy and hit them -> repeat. I think I may need to play this on cheat mode to just blow through the gameplay because it feels very dated at the start of vol.4.
-
That doesn’t sound wrong.
IMOQ’s combat was pretty terrible too (my broken brain enjoys the terrible fake early MMO combat though), but the main difference I remember is how much faster battles were there over GU. GU is damage sponge central.

Sounds like a .hack game.
