Title: Brick oven pizza with burnt crust, you sending it back?
Post by: ToxicAdam on August 14, 2017, 04:59:19 PM
Went to an 'upscale' pizzeria this past vacation (always with a single word name) and the pie had burnt crust. I sent that shit back and people at the table gave me shit about it.

I can deal with singed toppings or cheese, but if you burn the crust it's fucking with my taste buds too much.

Are we talking about nasty burnt or like black singe spots along the bottom? Because the latter is fine but if the whole bottom is black and gonna taste like charcoal then they fucked up.

Like charcoalish and hard edges? I think you're fine, I mean I can do that at my home in a garbage oven with frozen pizzas when I forget about 'em for a bit too long or can't get to it in time, for a pizzeria I feel like a higher level awareness of the pizzas and oven management is part of what I'm paying for.

I guess I shouldn't call it burnt, I should call it "charred".

I went to an upscale pizza place, the crust was somewhat burnt (still edible, we weren't complaining), our server apologized upfront & said he would get us a new one free of charge.

That was dope. 2 great pizzas for one price. :lawd

Pizza neapolitan style is always like that, that's how it's supposed to be. If done right the pizza should still be fluffy inside.

Japan has shitty pizza through and through. There's mediocre stuff if you like thin crust at Cappricciosa's, and there's ONE award-winning joint in Nakameguro, but is otherwise a fucking pizza wasteland.

Yes. Some people do that. Including in FREAKING RED WINE.

Speaking of disgusting shit people do with mixed drinks:
- Red wine and coke (mostly in spanish-speaking countries, apparently germany to some extent)
- Wheat beer and coke (Germany)

Like, I'm sorry but what the fuck is wrong with people.

Also, I'm currently battling stomach cancer because I've eaten too many carcinogens due to peer pressure.

I think the problem with the deep dish I've had was it has too many toppings (specifically meat). All that grease seeps into the crust and makes it soft and mushy.

Maybe I'll order a veggie version next time and see if that makes a difference.

What the fuck is this shit?

It's a chain that I've been (there's one in the San Jose area). It tastes good but I didn't feel it was worth it. There's another pizza chain called Zachary's in the Bay Area that I thought was better if you need to spend $20+ per pizza. The Oak & Rye in Los Gatos is my fav at the moment tho.

I am a simple man who is happy with Little Ceasars so you know I'd only recommend the expensive shit if it was truly great.

Then take responsibility for this shitty Little Caesar's pizza I had last week, bitch. :bolo

I remember having one of those Little Caesars personal pizza's for $5 or whatever once (closest spot to the place I was visiting) and it's left me bewildered to this day.

There was a crust, sauce, cheese, pepperoni (sprung extra for), none of these were especially good but no individual part was terrible.

...and yet is somehow wasn't Pizza. It was the damndest thing, all traditional boxes were checked yet somehow while eating it all I could think was "this isn't pizza, I can't express why but this isn't pizza"

It was like finding out 2+2 doesn't equal 4, like the pizza came in a box made of impossible angles.
