October 23, 2017 had more posts than any other single day [4,820]
October 2017 was our biggest month for posts since 2008 [biggest month ever was July 2008]
October has averaged slightly over 1,000 posts per day, September averaged about 300 posts per day
October averaged 352 posts per day for the first 20 days of the month
The past ten days have averaged 2,407 posts per day
2017 already has 10% more posts than last year, even with two months left

Nothing really, that was the second full year of operation and just happened to be the most active. But people got older, moved on and there hasn't been any large influx of new members with a desire to stay long-term, so it's been a slow decline ever since.
