Title: Firefox Quantum v Google Chrome megathread

i've used opera for years (http://www.reactiongifs.us/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/dozens_of_us_arrested_development.gif) when i got annoyed with chrome and firefox was too ugly to use

first thing i notice is the fonts look slightly different in firefox... :doge

as for speed ive always thought opera was fast enough :yeshrug but if you thought firefox was too slow before, people are reporting a huge change with the latest version of firefox so u might wanna try it

new firefox also has a new UI so it's actually pretty decent now

only thing i don't like is HOW FUCKING BRIGHT THE LOGO IS :holeup and the firefox website is bright as fuck too

and scrolling is slower than in opera

oh and the default firefox theme sucks... switched to light theme asap

Solution- quit being a dirty poor.

It's either that or use Internet Explorer and fuck that.

I doubt this Firefox Quantum will work with the site I use either. So I'm stuck in the browser ghetto.

Yeah, it's hard for me to go back to Firefox after jumping over to Chrome like 5 years ago. It's gotten a lot better on handling it's resource hogness, but at the same time it could be better.

I'm not a superfan of Safari, but the fact that I can have shared bookmarks and history across all my Mac and iOS devices is pretty much the second-biggest selling point, right after how snappy it is on even my 2009 iMac which is on its last legs.

The closet thing to that is the home page, I think. Should be the default for new tabs. Gives you up to a dozen tiles of your most used sites but you cad add whatever and pin it.

I just did what I always do and moved the bookmark toolbar items to the left of the address bar and filled it with faviconized bookmars of my most used sites. For anything else, I added back the bookmark menu so I can get a pop-up instead of having to use the sidebar or the redundant 'library' they put there by default. Compact and efficient.

plus being able to open safari tabs open on one device on any other device under the same icloud account. you can also remotely close windows as well, which is mostly useful as a prank... or hiding certain sites you thought you had closed :doge

Post by: Tasty on November 14, 2017, 10:00:34 PM: Firefox Quantum seems pretty awesome so far. Major kudos to Mozilla for doing what amounted to swapping out the engines, wings, and cockpit of a carrier jet while it was still in flight. They landed this bird well.

Firefox and Opera will always be welcome at my table. Not only because I'm against browser monocultures, but because Mozilla's work for the web cannot be understated. I'm glad they finally have a competitive browser and I hope that Firefox is able to stick around for years to come.

That said, my personal browser of choice will remain Chrome, up until the day another browser becomes so good that it's clearly far better in the majority of my use cases.

Years of mobile progress lost because of Apple's politics-playing, refusal to engage with standards, and 90's era update process.
