Apparently, the full-length TCM docu Scorsese on Scorsese WILL be on the two-disc set, whereas it was previously "up in the air". Damn, anyone who loves Scorsese films at ALL needs to pick up this set, from what I've seen the documentary is awesome.
:hyper :hyper :hyper

DAY FUCKING ONE
:clap :fiesta :clap
I'm proud to say I have seen this film three times in theaters, and will watch both the film and the documentary an infinite number of times in the future. Really, this is my most anticipated DVD release of the entire year, including films which haven't been theatrically released yet. Fuck 'em, Departed is the SHIT!!!
-
The cast of this movie is so fucking good :hyper
-
Where's that little arab who hates The Departed? It must be his bedtime

Feb. 13, PD. 2 weeks from Tuesday. Also, Himu and PD, you never saw this in theatres, did you? I just ask because it makes the "day one" declarations seem a bit odd if you never saw the film.
Anyways, I always buy my new DVDs "day one", as it where, and this will be no different. The only thing that has changed is that I will now get the 2 disc version (because of the TCM feature), whereas I previously was only planning on getting the single.
-
Day one for me, too. I loved it when I first saw it. Jack Nicholson is godlike. :-[

I was going to see it lost time. And I'm not buying it on day one - rental FTW

It's in wide release in theaters this weekend. Go see it toay.
-
No. I have to work today. And beside like Shake said, anyone who sees the movie two weeks before the DVD comes out is stupid
-
DAY ONE PURCHASE.
One of my top five films last year. Very good film, hopefully the Academy will get their heads out of their asses and give Scorsese the fucking best director nod.

Even so, I wanted to see it if only because of the cast. I never got to, and everyone's wild praises for it made the fact I didn't see it even more miserable.
Thus. Day one.

Here. I don't troll this movie UNLESS more unexpected stupidity (trilogy, you and TDS putting your heads even farther up your asses, etc.) happens.

Yeah, now my decision to go with the 2-Disc is solidified. I love me some Scorsese goodness. :hyper

Wow, come over.

I should rent Casino. And Goodfellas since what I was was edited for TV (it came on Spike).

And you still gave it a 9. Just imagine it unedited in all its glory.
-
Goodfellas is definitely in my top 10 films ever made. PD, you need to watch it unedited.
-
Yea it kinda sucked because I had seen clips from YouTube in which the cursing is just hilarious (Pesci lol) but on TV it didn't translate.

I honestly have to watch the movie again though, as I haven't in years.

Thanks for the heads-up. :hyper
I bet Best Buy and Circuit City will have their own special deals too, though.
-
Whoever has a bonus DVD is getting my money. ;)

Maybe they'll have one of those "with the purchase of The Departed" deals.
Like a bunch of Scorsese films for half off or something.
-
I still need to pick up Raging Bull and Mean Streets, so HELLZ YEAH! :hyper
But still, I'd like some more features than what's offered on the set.
-
Meh, features be damned. Most of the time they are nothing but vehicles for the cast and crew to suck eachother off. For every great set of extras Ive encountered, Ive had about 20 other DVDs filled with shit. I also don't have endless time to spend scouring all of them. In the end, only the film itself matters. So as long as I get great sound mixes and pristine transfers, I am usually more than happy. Although I great commentary is alwaus nice.
-
Bump, apparently Best Buy has an exclusive steelbook for the release.... the down side? Its for the single disc. :'(
-
Steelbook?
-
Like the kinda case the Halo 2 CE came in. ;)
-
Oh man....if it looks awesome I might just go with that over the 2-disc. The single-disc has commentary right?

No. :(
This is such a dilemma for me. I know the steelbook will be awesome (and it comes with postcards), but I CRAVE that second disc.

Sounds like the second disc isn't great anyways. This is my most trusted (hell, only trusted) DVD review site too, by the way.
At least they say the A/V is stellar, and that's all that really matters to me.
-
Ahem, beaten. :-*
I need Scorsese on Scorsese, though, and the deleted scenes. Fuck the extra $$$, I'm getting the two discer.

Well, they actually say the 2-disc edition provides more bang for your buck. Looking over those features, now I definitely want the 2-disc. Unfortunately, NEITHER version has commentary. :(
-
Solo: the 2-Disc is the obvious choice, dude. Scorsese on Scorsese? Yes please! :hyper
-
I could have a barebones version for 5 bucks less, or an extra disc with some half-baked extras for another 5. And since I'd watch the extras once at best, Im better off with the single.
Mind you, I'll end up getting the double, just for the better art.
