"People don't want social and political issues coming into play when they are trying to be entertained," McMahon said. "We want someone who wants to take a knee to do their version of that on their personal time."
NFL without the brain damage ???No, NFL run by someone with brain damage! :rejoice :money
It will be called the XFL, the same name of the league McMahon and NBC tried for one season in 2001, but it won't rely on flashy cheerleaders and antics as its predecessor did, he said.

Vince says they did have some thoughts about not naming it the XFl but kept it due to it being cool
Not sure about the nick names on the back of the jerseys, Says he loved he hate me and will allow fans to kind of decide

It's already rugby for pussies
Personally I hope they bring back the mad rush for the football at the fifty. "The Scramble."Can you imagine tearing your ACL doing this stupid shit? And for this type of salary?

The XFL paid standardized player salaries. Quarterbacks earned US$5,000 per week, kickers earned $3,500, and all other uniformed players earned $4,500 per week, though a few players got around these restrictions.:kobeyuck
Players did not receive any fringe benefits, and had to pay for their own health insurance.

Are you going to watch?
Nah. I don't have hopes for a quality game. Cool if it allows for some players to get a chance in the NFL though.
I wouldn't even begin knowing who to root for. :confused
Vince's entire empire operates out of CT but there's no Northeastern rep? :confused
I sure as fuck ain't rooting for a New York team. :nope
Oh man, an XFL game on the same level of quality as WWE 2k20.
now that the other shithole league let some garbage team that wasn't the raiders win, time for the BIG BOYS to start playing
Oh man, an XFL game on the same level of quality as WWE 2k20.
2k20 wasn't Yuke's. It was 2K that shipped that piece of work.
Still want a return to the LFL, and the Yuke's game that was going to come out of it.
it's only a 10 week season so they'll make it

Yeah and it was a studio that 2K started just to make Wrestling games. I think they started maybe 3 years ago?spoiler (click to show/hide)I heard a pretty interesting rumor about what 2k is attempting to do to make this XFL game, but it sounds like the kind of thing that could fall very flat.[close]

In b4 the league folds and the players don't get paid.

They really picked a great year for a comeback, huh?
I think the XFL can at least last a full season.

It will be interesting to see how history views it. It had all the breaks not afforded most new leagues and it had pretty below average results. But in three years, maybe people will just remember that the virus killed the league instead.
they were averaging a million viewers per game, that's not bad at all.
Did anybody really think the XFL was going to somehow work this time, even without corona?
Following the news last week that the XFL had suspended operations, the league has also filed bankruptcy.
The league filed a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in Delaware. You can read the entire filing here.
It turns out that these filings revealed that WWE owns part of the league, around 23.5%. This revelation comes despite previous denials that WWE and the XFL were completely separate entities. Other creditors listed include Bob Stoops ($1M), Marc Trestman ($777K), Ticketmaster ($655K) in addition to other coaches ($583K) and MetLife Stadium lease ($368K).
