Rappers like Ti, and Lil Wayne and even Bow Wow have taken notes on Jay-z way to hype himself up,and plant a seed in young fans head

i mean really who in 97, was saying "Biggie,Jay-z or Nas",

who else really believed Roc a fella was a dynasty, when Cash Money was outselling the Roc 5 to 1?

Who else was calling Jay-z the Greatest Rapper of all time, until Jay-z started calling himself, that,

who else actually believed Jay was the King of NY, when most heads in NYC bumped DMX classics, over Jay-z Vol 2, 3, and 4?

i don't see any other rapper in the history who hasn't had the work, yet has hyped himself up so much it has become believeable to many

I don't remember ANYONE declaring Jay Z to be on par with Biggie until he started hyping himself as such. He's not close to Biggie or Tupac yet today - thanks to his marketing scheme - he's put up there wtf.

Hell I don't remember people saying Reasonable Doubt was a classic before he started saying it. Jay Z benefitted from being in the right place at the right time. When Biggie and Tupac died he was looked at as the next big thing, but he never lived up to that crown. Instead he kept saying he was the greatest and people believed it. To make matters easier he had little competition. Big L died and Nas got on some major bullshit.

You can see him doing the exact same shit with Kingdom Come and his "30 is the new 20" bullshit. God damn. Great businessman/opportunist. Good rapper, not amazing.

Common can rap circles around Jay Z

I never understood why everyone was on his nuts when I was younger. I first started paying attention to him when he had his beef with Nas. Which he lost.

He's had some pretty good songs... not a GOAT candidate in my opinion, though. Still, I respect his ability and how far he's come. Some of the stuff he did on collabos, before he was famous, is very impressive.

Nas won the battle and could easily take him in a freestyle battle.

Nas shits all over Jay-Z, everyone knows this.

Anyway, here's a link to some of that old school goodness I was talking about:
