Pretty much this. Absolutely no reason to screw with the clocks. "Energy savings" are nice in theory, but given how hyper-connected the world is now a days, I doubt we're saving THAT much energy for a small hour time-screw.

I like the one where the clocks go back one hour.
The other one can fuck off tho.

It's a heap of bullshit. It was originated to allow for more time farming during daylight hours. Same outdated reason summer vacation is so long.

Yay.

It gives you an extra hour of daylight in the winter, which might not seem much. But it's very noticeable when the sun is only up for a few hours every day. And of course, once a year it also gives you an extra hour to sleep which is awesome.

Don't really see why anyone would bitch about it, especially not now when all the clocks set themselves automatically.

Don't really get why DST doesn't flip until 2am. Shouldn't it change at midnight when the new day starts? 2am just seems...bizarre.

Daylight saving time is during the Summer.  I think the idea is that having the sun rise at 4am would be a waste.

To answer the question: nay

I actually hate dlst.  Just walk past a sundial during the summer and see what a lie it is.  The sun reaches its peak at 1pm?  It's just a reminder of the tyranny society has placed over the natural order.

The sun should never go down at 4pm.
I think Jorma is Swedish. Depending on how far north he lives, he may not see the sun much at all during winter.

There's still a lot of shit going on at 12am.

To be honest i'm not actually that invested in DST as a concept. I don't care if they remove it and i don't care if they keep it. Especially now that the clocks set themselves.

But we have 6 hours of daylight in December where i live. I basically only ever see the sun when i go for lunch.
0 hours of daylight further north. It basically just shifts between twilight and night. Someone clearly needs to tell the sun about when it "should" set.  :doge
It's neat in the summer though, because the opposite happens.

Rufus yeah, i don't live in the true north (my mom does though), and DST might be a bit wasted there - they have zero hours of daylight in december. It's just a few hours of twilight and then pitch black :lol

I'm kinda jealous of you Jorma. I've always wanted to see that. Here we just never see the sun anyway like 8 months a year but you can still tell it's there.

Anyway, I say dump DST. Pointless these days anyhow.

What kind of Grinch-like creature do you have to be to shit on summer vacation? (Which was already getting shorter every year I was a kid, with prolific snow days not helping.)

The last summer vacation I had was an unofficial one in 2012 when I was in between jobs but still got 1.5 months severance. :doge

Actually if I remember correctly, I was laid off the same day as MS's E3 keynote that year. Brains and memories are weird. :thinking

I went to DC to see the Zelda symphony and the Addams Family musical. :ego

Seeing it as a tourist is kinda cool, and the northern lights too if you get really lucky. And reindeer might very well be the tastiest meat known to man.

Actually having to live there fills me with absolute dread. You'd think it was nice in the three months weeks days of summer, but noo - the mosquitoes are fucking terrible. I'm so lucky my mom met a dude from the south and settled down with him in Stockholm. :)
My mom likes her life there though, but i have no idea why.

Love when it's bright at 3 am during summer and I can't sleep before it's too bright outside, and my blackout curtains aren't enough.

I remember being bored out of my skull in August, dreading school reopening but needing it to prevent my brain from being reduced to inert mush. My mom was a teacher, so she was able to look after my sis and me, but I have NO IDEA how other working parents manage their brood for a full season each year.

I’m not against kids having breaks. Actually, I get mad at Japanese schools assigning work over their breaks just to keep them busy. It’s stupid.

I hate this daylight savings, having to get up an hour earlier when it's still dark out and I want to still be sleeping. Driving home after with the sun glaring in my eyes. Just the worst.
