Never had jet lag before in my life, but the 24 hours of traveling from HK to LAX has messed me up a bit. No matter when I sleep, I wake up after 4 hours like my body thinks it took a nice long nap and I’m refreshed so it’s tough to install just get back to sleep. When I finally do get back to sleep I get another 4 hours and feel fine with 8 total, but it’s just annoying splitting it in two each night instead of one block of sleep. Been like 4 nights now. Maybe if I took a sleeping pill? Idk, for some reason never had jet lag before and even 24 hours going the other way didn’t mess me up at all.

Only way that worked for me was to stay up the whole night and then go to bed at a reasonable time the day after.

Try taking some Melatonin before bed. Are you reading on an electronic device or using your PC before bed? If so...stop or at least enable one of those blue light filters. Might help too.

My advice try to get back on your normal schedule - as in don't come back from a flight and fall asleep at 2pm as soon as you get home even though you might be tired as hell. Tough it out as late as you possibly can. You will still probably wake up at 2am or something but then I'd stay up the whole day just like a normal day. Don't nap! When the next night comes around I usually sleep the whole night at that point. Don't get me wrong. I still wake up tired and feel foggy for the whole day but my sleep schedule is generally on track after that.

Yuppers. Trying to force the "local normal" schedule into the body would also have been my suggestion. Can be harsh at times, but if it works for you as well, then, eh, what's a little suffering. :-[

Yeah, forcing yourself to stay up all night so you're exhausted is about the only way to beat it in my experience. Whenever I fly internationally, I always make it a point to stay awake on the plane as long as possible so I'm exhausted by the time I land. It's best if you can get a flight that lands in the evening or later afternoon so you can crash as soon as you get to your hotel or wherever.

Same as everyone else. Just stay up and power through until you hit your normal bed time tonight.

Other than they staying up thing, noise cancelling headphones always helped for me. Of course you're home now so that's not very useful.

Pills and wave sounds work for me sometimes, but I travel enough now I'm kind of always fucked up.
