I've never played a Souls game and also I suck at video games, what do?  :doge I've learned a few things by osmosis over the years, like don't go to the cemetery as soon as you get to Firelink Shrine, you can shoot arrows at the Drake's tail under the bridge to get a cool sword, and Blight Town sucks. I'm at the Undead Burg, I think I've died about 20 times. At least half of those deaths were to the Black Knight at the top of the tower when you enter the berg. I keep fighting him for probably no reason, but I figured out that you can get a free 555 souls every time you respawn by sticking your head out onto the bridge and letting the Drake kill of all his friends, yay!

I say this for no real reason and without judgement, but you can change the size of the HUD in the remaster.

I started to play this as well, been streaming on my twitch. Got the gargoyles second try, Capra second time, and now im in the depths.

Need to slay that fucker

After finishing GoW, I just started back on DS3.  Good thing I'm already use to using the shoulder buttons to attack.  I swear... I'm going to play through a souls game!

I beat the Gargargoyles (meaning I summoned some guys to beat the Gargoyles for me :shh ), then I went to the Catacombs and died a bunch, then I found out the Catacombs was not where I was supposed to go next. Dark Souls. :rejoice

Bro. You really do not need to summon anyone to fight the gargoyles.

That's how I did it after fighting them once with a measly axe+1. Then I found the longsword and got that to +1 then I just went to school on these gargoyles.

Im not gonna summon anyone. satisfaction can only be gained that way :P.

The only major one IMO that you need to summon for is the infamous duo in Anal Rodeo. Everything else is mostly manageable, but I'll admit the Gargoyles are tough only because the camera (like most of the series' two+ bosses fights) does not work with multiple fatties in the arena.

I had just become human for the first time and saw like 5 summon spots in front of a foggy door, and figured why fight when you can cheese?

i think you can hit the catacombs early. you'll get smushed tho without iconoclast tier skillz. pls get a divine weapon.

Strength

I put most of my stats into Strength so I could use the Zweihander, although now I’m slow af so I’m still using the Drake Sword for now. (I have absorbed the fact that the Drake Sword doesn’t have stat scaling and is bad long term, but it’s working for now). I guess I need endurance now for less slowness?

idk i just kind of winged it when i played through first. i used the zwei after a claymore for ages. i usually just made sure i had enough endurance for the cool armor and zwei (+havel's ring and that mask later) with less than 50% equip load for mid roll/quick roll later w items.

Zwei is by far my favourite weapon in DS1. GIANTDAD.

I used the Falchion, I think its considered one of the best "virgin" weapons for your first time playing

The Claymore is also a good choice

I keep going back and forth on getting this. Theoretically I like the gameplay in souls games, but I usually end up getting stuck on a part and then keep repeating it, and then get bored and give up. I think I made it until that poison area with the terrible frame rate in dark souls on 360, but really it was the catacombs that destroyed my will to play.

imo, reading a primer on the game's systems makes it a lot more fun. you can have a relatively easy, enjoyable time with this game, but you need the right build and some tips on progression. i struggled through the chinese demon's souls with a v ghetto set up way back when. it was eventually v satisfying, but never again. faqs 4 lyf.

its pretty easy, just kill the dogs, run up the stairs and he will jump attack but fall down. Then just do a jumping attack on his ass and run up the stairs again lol

I forgot to use lock-on, I think that was making the fighter harder than it had to be. Once I remembered I could lock-on, I finished him off without much trouble.

Make sure you do the DLC before the end boss or you will miss it.  It is also the best part of the game.  Also, cut off dragon tails for good weapons.
