So Ill be buying car number 2 this week but cant decide what to pick, down to 2 options.
Ill be using the car to get around town and a few hours (6) a week for work. And pick up daughter.
Option 1: 1 year old with 7000km only, boring, ugly, can tow my trailer so I can use it to drive some garbage away every other week
Option 2: brand new, looks cool, nicer to drive, smaller boot and cant tow, also costs 4000 usd more, more luxurious
I think ill be driving maybe 5000km a year
Im pretty sure option 1 makes way more sense, then again, drive something you dont like when spending 15k...

Ive seen that vid actually :lol

The camper van above looks awesome if I lived that lifestyle and wasn't in the US.
That said, I'd go w/ option 2 myself, but I don't know your financials and the need to tow.
-
The monthly payments will be the same, but option nr 1 over 5 years and 2 over 8
Towing would be nice as there is a lot of shit from thw garden that needs to be taken away between april/may-november. Grass, leaves. If I can do it before work that would mean more family time on the weekends
-
i'm going to choose to imagine this as My Summer Car larping
so the first thing you're going to need is a lot of beer and a creepy van
-
why not something in-between
but buying a brand new car is usually a terrible idea
-
Buy a little Smart car, Fiat, or Toyota IQ. :) I have the latter and love it for zipping around town and going to/from work. We have a bigger car when needed but I almost never use it.
-
tesla model 3
-
An 8 year auto loan is a deal breaker for me. Either shop around over a longer period of time, if you can, or go with 1.

Plz understand this country is the size of a city and the car market is crap.Toyota IQ is too small if we will have kid number 2 and id be dropping them off

There really is nothing

How hard is it to go to a neighboring country for a weekend to buy and drive back another car? Assuming of course you don't have some crazy import taxes.
If I had to decide between those two, I'd probably go with option 1 for fiscal responsibility and then give the wife the car you have right now. I'm going to guess option 1 looks like a Fiat qubo based on how you describe it.

Registration tax is 105% for cars under 13k usd
180% for cars over 13k usd
:lol
:'( price of socialism
Option 1 is a Suzuki Celerio (15.5k usd )
Option 2 is A Toyota Aygo (18.8k usd)
We already have a Toyota Auris Hybrid (45.5k usd) which the wife uses for her 100km a day commute and is the main car also for holidays etc
-
Yes plz tell me in your country I could get an SUV for 15-20k :maf
-
???
If you bought a car for $10K you would have to pay $10K+ to register it?
-
Yes, well it works out to a bit less in reality so like 5k registration on a 10k car.
Guess thats why healthcare, schools, university etc are free here and daycare is subsidized.
Everything has its price
-
Considering people here pay over $5K in health care premiums per year, 4 years of college can be $100K+, day care for 1 child is $500+ a month that doesn't sound bad at all.
-
Honestly, the Aygo looks worse imo.
It's nice to have one car in the household that you don't care too much about.
-
Wuut I love the aygo man.
Plus ill get the premium version with emergency braking, leather seats, nice rims :D
How can one not love the Aygo

Volvo XC70. Solid family shed.

It's going to be the Aygo 8)
Still nervous about splashing the cash, but I guess one can always sell it later on.
