"Evil is a make-believe concept we've invented to deal with the complexities of fellow humans."

People are still going to use Octalink. :doge

Looks like BrandNew :thinking
-
This story definitely gets put in the same filing cabinet as Grizzly Man.
-
that's a terribly written article
like cool, thanks for telling me they were vegan and vegetarian
why does that matter

It's important that the whole world knows they were vegan and vegetarian.
It's what they would have wanted.
Rip. Never forget.
-
that's a terribly written article
like cool, thanks for telling me they were vegan and vegetarian

It tells you they were part of the good people even though they were cis and white.
-
Headline is wrong about why they were cycling. Read about this on npr when it happened. Sucks :(
-
“People, the narrative goes, are not to be trusted. People are bad. People are evil."
“I don’t buy it," he continued.
Mugged killed by reality.
edit: it appears the article is a inaccurate as the couple may not even known they were cycling through ISIS territory nor was the point of their trip, despite their naivety about human nature, "to prove humans are kind."

Can't spell CIS without ISIS.

Well, that article is tasteless.
-
But my schadenfreude isn't.
-
Maybe they killed them with kindness :trumps
-
Where do these carebears even crawl from? The type of sheltered life you need to live to have such fucked up view compared to how raw reality is smh.
-
You really have to be a fucking idiot to cycle through countries like that.
It's a fucking sad story, but don't fucking go there.
-
I am thankful for discovering how fucked up humanity is, via 4chan and other sites like it, during my early teen years.
And people say 4chan has no value. Heh, I beg to differ. :snob

A site called Pluralist encouraging readers to sneer at murder victims for living a different lifestyle.

Eyewitness asked one of the ppl who was hit by the car
"Het eerste dat zij zei, was dat ze waren aangereden door een auto en dat mensen waren uitgestapt die hen met messen begonnen neer te steken."
" The first thing she said, was that they had been hit by a car and that the people who got out started stabbing them with knives"
https://nos.nl/artikel/2243854-ooggetuige-filmt-mogelijke-aanslag-op-fietsers-tadzjikistan.html
Possible footage of the hit & run/stabbing in this link. Not gruesome but you can see a car hitting people who were on the road lying there. It's sick.
-
Where do these carebears even crawl from?
Suburban America?
-
Thanks for sharing this cautionary tale, I'll be sure not to bike through ISIS occupied territories
-
tajikistan and the surrounding areas have been attracting hikers and cyclists for decades
even after the attack, central asia is prob still safer for cyclists than any metro area.
-
Thank you for liking my dumb bottom bracket joke, TEEPO. :-*

so basically the whole story is bullshit but channers and their ilk lapped it up because they operate at the same level as boomers sharing facebook memes about Obama being a Moozlim
edit: tajikistan is a low-risk travel destination according to the State department

The Venn diagram for those boomers and channers is approaching near perfect circle

edit: tajikistan is a low-risk travel destination according to the State department
You should go cycling there and let us know how you get on

Half the murder rate of the US.

:mouf
brb, thinking of cycling through tajikistan
-
It's threads like these that highlight how people end up as fucking ignorant and stupid as they are. The world's knowledge at your fingertips and you end up in vicious cycles feeding yourself nonsense like this because you can't work past your own motivated reasoning.
....For reference I am talking about the OP, not the cyclists.

OP earnestly links Info Wars and then replies with, "I don't discount a story just because of its source :smug," when people make fun of him for earnestly linking Info Wars.

My question is what did they do to afford 'round-the-world cycling trip?'
EDit: After leaving his job at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.."
damn, wtf? they make that much to just up and quit?
Edit 2: The OP article is definitely off base but it's still a bit ironic to die in that way after posting something like this
You watch the news and you read the papers and you’re led to believe that the world is a big, scary place. People, the narrative goes, are not to be trusted. People are bad. People are evil. People are axe murderers and monsters and worse.
I don’t buy it. Evil is a make-believe concept we’ve invented to deal with the complexities of fellow humans holding values and beliefs and perspectives different than our own — it’s easier to dismiss an opinion as abhorrent than strive to understand it. Badness exists, sure, but even that’s quite rare. By and large, humans are kind. Self-interested sometimes, myopic sometimes, but kind. Generous and wonderful and kind. No greater revelation has come from our journey than this.

I mean that is a blog post reflecting on his experience with a foreign family that showed an intense amount of kindness and generosity toward them: http://archive.fo/01brg
Seems like you would honestly have a lot to relate to with that guy in that one moment? Seeing as you, like he was doing in that moment, and like you do in seemingly every moment, root your perception of the world entirely around an anecdotal experience, except with you it gets filtered through a world of personal misery and he seems to have had a more positive disposition.

Tbf there are a lot of them at malls now.
Mexicans, I mean.

If they were traveling the world and bar hopping this wouldn't have happened
Excuse in foreign areas brehz
-
p much. if you're exercising in a country that isn' your own you're prob a figgurt.

Anecdotal experience... i find this such an interesting slam.
Do life experiences mean little to you or are you/were you the type of person that dismissed every single adult or senior that attempted to give you some advice as a young man? Does it ever occur to you that there are a fuck ton of flawed research out there?
The irony is that you'd most likely make a statement like this (negative or positive) before i would I don’t buy it. Evil is a make-believe concept we’ve invented
-
It’s the over reliance on it through perverse filtering I was taking a shot at, not the entire concept of lived experiences dumbass.
-
It's not ironic, it's just coincidental. And arguably so only if he considered his murder to be evil. Maybe he understood and saw valid reasons for his murder. He might have had a history of severe infractions, maybe his account was still in a junior phase. There's plenty of reasons someone might be actioned.
-

No Nola. Your whole shtick is google searching as much as possible half-assed articles or flawed research papers to argue with people on internet forums. Remove the computer or iphone from your fingers you probably have nothing. Your brain wouldn't even know what to do having to actually think for itself.
This is how you come off to me atleast. Stay zen :heart

at least they weren't murdered by obummer/killary's drone program. i'd think betrayal of that nature would sting more tbh.

So "being Zen" is just being your regular asshole self and just tacking on "imo, stay Zen brehs" at the end? :doge
