she totally sold out and everyone now loves her. R&B stations wouldn't play her for a fucking decade and now can't stop sucking her dick despite the fact Dirty Computer is flat out trash. I'm still a Janelle stan but I JUST CAN'T.

She will likely win best r&b album and it's the album of hers least deserving.

But I'll still love you. I'll always stan you and you'll always be queen. This hurts so much and I'm so conflicted. To love someone and support them and want them success but still be disappointed by their output. I'm proud of her for becoming this popular but at the same time...

Except for Fiona Apple. She's been consistently great throughout her career. Although I do wonder if she will still be singing about heartbreak and bad relationships into her 40's and how it will play.

Post by: Cryo on January 17, 2019, 04:16:31 PM: esch was right when he called Electric Lady a slideshow of black music covers tbh, with the exception of stuff like QUEEN which is sonically and lyrically better than most of dirty computer, but it’s likely I’ll be coming back to both albums an equal amount (little relative to archandroid, ofc) - dirty computer feels more like something she really wanted to make and she’s clearly having fun.

for someone who no longer ever needed to drop an album again after taking those 2 movie roles I think she’s handling the fame alright

Yeah, it's like she lost everything that made good. The singing isn't as impressive as Electric Lady or Archandroid. The content also isn't that interesting. I'm just bored listening to it. It feels so dispassionate.
