Best handheld ever. Perfect size and battery capacity to actually be portable.
Other than the memory card situation (which can now be remedied with SD2Vita), after they got rid of the terribly calibrated, mura ridden, burn-in prone OLED, made it lighter, more ergonomic and gave it a micro USB port, it was excellent.
Shame Sony gave up on it way too early.
I still use mine quite frequently.

I always waffle on buying one or not. Everyone always talks about how much they love it, as hardware, if not the library.
-
So how long do you guys reckon it's going to take before the prices for this shit shoot up? I've been debating buying one just to be safe in case my OLED model PSV bites the dust, but they are around 250 and up online which seems a bit hefty.
-
Right now, I'm guessing. I don't see why they'd get cheaper at this point.
-
Man I love Vita.

They already are. TV in the US has shot up from the $20 I paid for it at Best Buy. :doge
-
The OLED is gorgeous but Vita just didn't have compelling exclusives. Most games got console versions or were otome games or something even too weeby for me. Even Memories of Celceta got a PC port eventually, that was my primary reason for owning the platform.

> he wants to play videogames IN HIS ROOM
-
Sony is literally forcing publishers to stop putting games on the Vita. :bow Vita :bow2 :piss Sony :piss2
-
I still want one over the Switch.
-
Got two PSTVs and two LCD screen Vitas so am good. At least until one of the memory cards goes. :-\
-
There is SD2Vita, there's no worrry. PSTV can support external memory as well afaik when homebrewed.
-
At this point, can you hack a Vita to just run CFW stuff on startup? Would really love to get something working with a PSTV.
-
I love being able to play Tokyo Xanadu while taking a shit without having to hunker down in front of my PS4 :aah
Then I'll play Ys 8 while the bus to my therapist :aah
Maybe a replay of Final Fantasy 9 - without the horrible mobile UI and graphics on the Switch :aah
The options are endless :aah
Fuck my tight hole vita :aah

Yes, if your firmware is 3.65 or 3.60. A downgrader was recently released (doesn't work on 3.70 because there is no public hack yet, but one exists and will be released sooner or later).
The permanent hack you are looking for is called enso. Super easy to install.
Word of warning, don't risk your PSN account by using homebrew online. Get a separate Vita to hack.
-
With a hacked vita you can play Trails in the Sky the 3rd in English (https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-trails-in-the-sky-the-3rd-evolution-english-patch.531268/)

Yes, provided you have it on 3.60. There's a "Downgrader" now, but the perma-"CFW" is Enso on 3.60.
-
Vita was cool for a year or so.
Some great games.
After I played all the games I wanted and no new big ones were coming I was done with it though.
Sleep tight Vita.
-
Guess Sony doesn't plan on using it for PS5 remote play.... :-\
-
I absolutely adore mine. I put about 30 hours into it last Summer break playing all the Danganrompas. Then for Xmas break I played the ever-loving fuck out of Deception: The Nightmare Princess.
I'm probably going to put custom firmware on it once Sony taps out and says the party's over.
Last time I was in Japan going price on a used Vita was in the $150 or so range for a nice one. I picked one up to replace the one that accidentally went in the washing machine with the sheets (FUUUUUCK!). Maybe I will get a second one. I have the second generation model now and I love the reduced weight and USB charging, but fuck I miss DAT OLED
-
They're like ¥9000-11,000 right now at BOOK OFF.
-
And it's over. Vita production has ended.
-
Fuck it, I'm going to hack mine. Or maybe buy a second one and hack that. Retroarch with that controller and screen, mm mm good

:salute Died years ago. At least someone finally put a bullet into it's alz ass.
-
I got so many vita games, ill be playing it for a while. Bless sony for giving us the psp and vita
-
Downgrade to 3.60 and then install enso. There is no more need for a higher firmware, you can play games from all firwares on 3.60. There is a plugin called refood, look it up.
-
The hack is out for 3.69-3.70.
Unfortunately some the subreddits seem to be getting massdownvoted/brigaded, so it's hard to navigate outside of the pinned threads.
Still was able to downgrade to 3.68 and get some really, really nice homebrew software that doesn't work on .69/.70
wololo.net or whatever should have the information.
Downgrade to 3.60, then get 3.65 ENZO. Then fake/spoof the firmare to like 3.70 so PSN doesn't ask you to update and you're good.

No, don't upgrade to 3.65. There is no difference in functionality, except that on 3.60 you can easily re-install henkaku/enso in case anything ever goes wrong (by simply visiting a website ). And also do get an SD2Vita adapter.
-
Surprisingly, Sony has just released firmware 3.71 for Vita which patches the exploit needed to install CFW. So if you intend to hack yours, don't update and stay offline because there most likely won't be another hack (ever) since the hackers are done with the system and have moved on.
-
But how will I get all the hot new stability fixes?!
-
Yikes, good thing I modded mine. I love this system so much

Lol, I spoke too soon:

It's like the end of the PSP. Question is: Will Sony just say "fuck it" and let this be the last firmware, or update AGAIN in like 1-2 years which will have everyone go "WTF"," crack it, and THEN be done.
-
Sony's already shut off cart production for the Vita, what are they trying to protect?

Digital. AFAIK, Japan is still getting a few more games for like 1-2 years.

Japan is still getting physical games. U.S. too, for that matter!

I still want a Vita over a Switch.
