Reggie nooooo :tocry

Now that he's done with being President of Nintendo, Reggie should run for President of the US.
He has the Nintendo vote, soccer mom vote and minority vote locked up.
As well as the meme vote.
He'd be unbeatable.

The best thing about this will be the Dunkey video
-
Never got the big deal with this guy or any of the gaming ceo worship.
-
Nintendo must have read our Chad Bowser fanfic in the dumpster thread.
Then they cheaped out for a Doug instead.

This needs to be the sales thread header.
Anyway, I can't say anything overly bad about Reggie. Dude wasn't super great, but he generally put Nintendo in a decent position in America (bar the shit third party support and game drought, anyway, which isn't totally his entire fault).

What's not sad about some marketing guy being able to retire in his 50s? :'( tbh after he dropped the angry act after the first couple of E3s he wasn't even a good presenter, but just the typical PR robot trying to mimic emotions. I guess he wasn't completely repulsive like the Peter Moores and Jack Trettons.

So is Reggie retired retired? Like, he’s not working at all now? Or does he mean just leaving the gaming biz?
-
The former. Not gonna work anywhere else.

Wow. Our man made it.
In reality he’s probably going to try to break into politics.

Interestingly, one of the last things Iwata did before dying was to reduce Reggie to a mere figurehead with little real power.
So that's really all he was: Some marketing guy.

Doug Bowser doesn't really have a profile right now. Reggie was pretty much made immortal by the 2004 Zelda trailer announcement and dunking on Sony and Microsoft.
He seemed very un-Nintendo like at the start. Although the last few years he became less and less outspoken.

I’m not really sure what the NOA guys even do.
I mean, I know they handle translations and marketing to
Some extent, and maybe the release calendar, but it’s not like they are actually “making games” afaik. Nintendo seems more centralized than Sony in that respect.

Treehouse has some hand in development. For BOTW the US and Japan worked closely together but Japan is certainly running the show after Nintendo lost most of their western development houses such as Rare.
NOA and NoE simply have no leverage. Would've been different if Arakawa had taken over from Yamauchi instead of Iwata.
