My hype level for this is gradually rising.

Anyone who is familiar with the backstory will tell you that the time and geographical setting has a lot of really cool stuff. The fall of Numenor, the Dunedain settling on Middle Earth and establishing the kingdoms or Arnor and Gondor, the wars against the Witch King of Angmar. The lineage of the kings of Gondor, etc. They have a lot of stuff to work with.
All of this stuff Tolkien briefly wrote about in the Appendices of Return of the King, so they show creators have a lot of liberty to flesh things out as they see fit. I expect the series to wrap up with the forging of the rings of power. Might have to get Amazon Prime for this.

That's clearly better than the rumoured Young Aragorn shit.
Most epic would have been first age though :lawd

Christopher Tolkien was still squatting on the rights to those when they started production, I think. I agree the first age would be badass, but much harder to adapt. It's not one cohesive narrative, and it spans thousands of years.

At least they aren't going with the Young Aragorn angle, that generated zero interest from me.
