Title: Why do people still use fax machines?
Post by: PhoenixWright on January 30, 2007, 09:14:57 AM
With the advent of E-Mail and the internet in general, is there a reason fax machines are still used? They're such a hassle to use (I usually have to try faxing no less than 3 times for any given fax,) and at least 75% of all faxes are ads. If we have to have faxes, why don't we have outhouses? Why don't all computers come standard with 2400 baud modems? How about having disposable cameras that you have to stand still for 10 minutes to get a picture out of? Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to drive my Edsel and get some breakfast.

It's easier than scanning a document and sending it over email.

Because faxes are cheap, easy-to-use, and don't need to be operated by with a computer. i don't think we'll see the traditional fax disappear until networkable or USB faxes rise in popularity. Most if not all all in one machines come with software to scan to a PDF, but no one takes advantage of that capability.  ::)

Every copy machine is now a fax machine also. They're not going away anytime soon.

Actually in India they have "hand water jets" so that people can wash their hands if they prefer to use hands to wipe their ass instead of toilet paper.

Some things are custom.
