I've never be a fan of black tea as much as I have been for green, white, or herbal teas. I liked it well enough but felt it was just okay in comparison. Recently picked up some peach ginger black tea and it's so delicious and smooth. Every sip is therapeutic. It's so good. In the past I drank Earl Grey but this is on another level of delish.
I gotta get some good loose leaf black tea.
I've recently fell into a thing where instead of coffee I drink black tea in the morning and beyond the ritual it's really turned me onto it. Still drink plenty of green tea but it's mostly for the afternoon or at night.
-
I grew up drinking black tea only, all other teas feel weird to me.
-
Herbal shit ain't tea.

Herbal shit ain't tea.
Whatever it is, I like it!
-
I like sleepy tea :yeshrug
-
didnt u say u had trouble sleeping
dont drink caffeinated drinks several hours before bedtime
Point to me where i said I drink black tea at night?
I'm pretty sure I said morning. Green tea is my night drink and has minimal caffeine.
-
green tea has comparable caffeine to black tea
Huh. Didn't know that. Are you sure?
-
Ceylon tea
:lawd
-
dont tell me you've been chugging down green tea like a motherfucker right before bed and then wondering why u have difficulty sleeping :neogaf
I usually drink it a few hours before so I'm hydrated before bed.
I figured the caffeine was negligible.
-
if you drink caffeine regularly, your body builds up a tolerance to it.
-
chai :lawd
-
doesnt change the fact that it can still mess with your sleep
of course it "changes the fact," that's exactly what building a resistance to it means.
-
what a fine weather today. can’t choose whether to drink tea or hang myself.
-
Get some hao ya A grade in your life, also dig into the coppery Ceylon varieties. Black also blends well with florals like rose , chamomile and cornflower.
Now is also a good time of the year to get single estate 1st flush darjeelings which are black bordering on green in many cases.
IMO rooibos is the only herbal tea worth a damn
:gurl
-
if you are genetically prone to slowly metabolizing caffeine then you might never build a resistance regardless of how much of it you consume
-
Drinking a pot of Irish breakfast and doing cardio :lawd

Green Tea tastes like shit. :yuck
Anything that isn't Thai Iced Tea or Southern Sweet Tea is :trash . I gotta have mountains of sugar in the tea to even bother drinking it.

Green tea is da gawd
I will not tolerate American taste buds and needing everything to taste sweet as candy in this thread.
-
Pretty tea noob despite having an English parent and terminal Russophilia but I fuck with rooibos. No shame.
-
There is nothing more relaxing than having an hour long yum cha sipping on jasmine. Green tea is the GOAT.

it's comforting knowing my accident gives cause for concern but you should try being a bit more considerate and ask about my bike before inquiring about my well being :picard
and to answer that question, my belgian steed has a crack through the seat tube :stahp
though i am very very lucky to be both alive and dealing with only minor nagging injuries such as soreness and some nasty abrasions. i flew five meters forward and luckily had enough air time to decide in a split second to align myself to land head first so i could roll rather than landing on an arm and breaking my collarbone and who knows what else. but i am also lucky i didn't break my neck. this is why you always wear a helmet
the most damage outside my bike is the loss of fitness, which i can hopefully regain years of work in a span of 4 months, around the time the season comes to an end...
the good news is that i'll be replacing my belgian steed with a german and i can salvage enough parts from the wreckage to make a cheap crit bike that won't break the bank for when i crash it during a race :mynicca

What are this threads thoughts on white tea
Baihao yinzen :rejoice
a perfectly brewed cup of first flush white darjeeling no more than a few weeks removed from its stem is almost as preferable than the taste of a highly hygienic asshole :lawd

I like it. I’m not the biggest on it but I like it. Have any brand recs?
-
if it ain't white, it ain't right
is what I say about teas
but also, once you go black, you never go back
-
once you try chai, come on fuck a guy!
-
Try some Russian Caravan or Lapsang Souchong. Like drinking a campfire, but with a touch of sugar and milk, they will change your world.
-
There is (was?) a low-key Azerbaijani restaurant in San Diego. My server there was Russian and when I ordered Russian Caravan she looked at me in that way that only a CIS woman can look at you when you do something fucking stupid. :lawd
@TEEPO: You're right, I should have asked about the bike. RIP Ridley :'(

White tea is cool; try antlers some time. They steep super quick but have a cool flavor.

all tea is cool
-
Wow those are long leaves
-
Tea is just hot leaf juice
-
Wow those are long leaves
Stems actually. They handle multiple streps pretty well.
-
All you have to do is stop the water while it's in a pre-boil where it's about to boil but it's not actually boiling. That's the sweet spot. A full boil indicates it's too hot and will burn your leaves. Steep for 1-2 minutes depending on your preferences. 1 minute will lead to a light taste. 2 will lead to a very strong grassy taste.
Doesn't take much at all.
-
Either way, my advice goes a long way. Turn the water off when it starts to bubble but it's not boiling. Fuck keeping temperature.
-
Tea is just hot leaf juice
coffee is just hot bean juice
-
chai :lawd
Always think of india and
Chai chai chai

most of the time if i'm having a herbal or green tea, i brew it with a basic black tea... now white tea is a different story
also i brew tea so fucking dark, it's a real edge game of temperature sometimes if i'm not paying attention
-
green tea gang gang
-
seriously dufus you don't need "equipment' or whatever to make goddamn tea. Strainer, pot, cup, leaves. Bam.
-
Lately I've been getting into oolong. Picked up some milk oolong at the local tea shop last week. Also, silver needle is delicious but a bit pricey.

Hardly a tea noob. Electric kettles tend to bubble. Get one you can see inside.
This is what I use.
https://www.amazon.com/Ovente-BPA-Free-Protection-Indicator-KG83B/dp/B00DEPGY7G/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=electric+kettle&qid=1558897940&s=gateway&sr=8-4-spell
Never get an electric kettle you can’t see inside. Look for the bubbles for temp. Bubbles are more important than knowing temp. That and feeling the heat of the kettle itself.
It’s a pretty easy process and yes, even with Japanese tea. I have been making tea with leaves for a long time. It’s not much of an issue and you’re overthinking it. Use temps is fine when starting out but it’s pointless for any experienced tea drinker to brew via temperature. Who cares. Look for the signs.
-
heat transfers: pour boiling water into your teacup and then into your kettle avoiding direct contact with the leaves. this is how the japanese have been brewing green tea for hundreds of years and many still do
making tea isn't an exact science: make do with what you have
-
Yeah I’ll go for perfect tea if I have guests. Guests that like tea that is. In my experience most Americans don’t like tea. “It has no taste!” *stares forlornly into the sunset*
-
i still watch for how the water boils at the top with my electric kettle whenever im brewing fussy teas like wu yi and dan cong oolongs.
its. not. a. science.

hey doofus, sometimes I use a blender to froth my matcha :rash
-
I just use a steel stovetop kettle and listen for boiling and wait a bit or so to pour for less oxidized stuff :trumps
-
It's tea FFS. Have it how you like it.
