Thanos' snap causes monsters to appear: the game.

But more seriously: Seems kinda cool. I haven't gotten around to playing Psycho Break 1-2/The Evil Within 1-2 yet but I should probably do that. :doge

In for anything Mikami directs or is heavily involved in production of, but otherwise non-gameplay trailers are hard to get really any feel out of.

Evil Within 1 is underrated af. The true sequel to RE4. Still need to get around to playing 2!

RIP Evil Within 3.  :'(

This looks cool though.

Evil Within 1 and 2 have plenty of lows, but their highs are some of the best this gen, i loved both (even though 2 is a bit of a step back).
Also be sure to play the amazing DLC for EW1.

Could never get into Evil Within 1. Didn’t like the stealth stuff and the shooting always felt awkward and unforgiving.

Maybe I’ll play the PC version with some cheats.

The 2nd one was a bit better. Finished that one.

I don’t think any game has come close to RE4’s tension and shooting mechanics.

Same.

TEW was okay, but Mikami usually means greatness. Looking forward to it.

Mikami didn't want to make anything like TEW with his studio and it showed. Hopefully this is more in line with their ideas and can be closer to the quality of God Hand and Vanquish. Though I'm not literally expecting another game on the same level as GH, that's never gonna happen again. But at least it needs to be better than TEW.

Mikami was already working on TEW before Bethesda got involved, and he's specifically said that he wanted to make a survival-horror game that went back to genre's roots of more horror instead of action.

He founded Tango to make fresh game ideas and push new directors instead of himself. In an interview during TEW marketing phase he said how he really wanted to do completely different things. And later he said he has failed to yet fulfill his promise with Tango.

GC: So, in terms of The Evil Within – was that something you wanted to do before setting up Tango or was it an idea that came along after?

SM: After Tango.

I mean, there's quite a bit of difference being TEW not being his ideal project for Tango and not wanting to do TEW at all.

Specifically calling out Taiwan and Hong Kong as the two next potential settings... seems like that might kinda be a political statement with everything going on. :doge

Would've not exactly been on my radar if I didn't know who was making it. But I have every Mikami game and I remain open to it.

Not what I expected. I don’t like these first person horror games, especially from Japan.

Damn, opposite reaction.
First person...  :yuck
And it looks like a B tier VR game, yeah.
Art style and graphics also look mediocre to me.

What a massive disappointment, tbh.

Apparently this isn't a horror game anymore?

https://www.ign.com/articles/ghostwire-tokyo-isnt-actually-a-horror-game-technically?sf125951033=1

Mikami knows action, I trust him, but not exactly what I was hyped for...

Also, Ikumi Nakamura's replacement as director is apparently Kenji Kimura.

https://www.mobygames.com/developer/sheet/view/developerId,266621/

He designed some levels for Peace Walker, and did art for a bunch of fighting games... :thinking  :goldberg

Bethesda: Nakamura-san decided to leave Tango in 2019 and we wish her well with her next project. She played a part in the creation of GhostWire: Tokyo and while we’re thankful for her contributions, Tango continues to be led by the legendary Shinji Mikami, and the entire talented team led by director Kenji Kimura is excited to continue development of GhostWire: Tokyo under their leadership.

Well that's encouraging... /s

And also says nothing. "She played a part" that's some weasel words throwing-under-the-bus type shit lol.

I don't think that's really a change in course, it's always come across like an action game first with horror elements added in.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the initial teaser was certainly much more horror and folklore than action IMO.
