Oatmeal (and cream of wheat too, had to google that) is a cereal? In my language it's a type of porridge, cereal refers to breakfast cereal only, also granola is its own separate thing. But apparently in English (at least US) porridge is just a warm cereal?

We had this on our breakfast menu at this hotel I used to work at: 1/2 steel cut oats 1/2 farro piccolo and topped with a granny Smith apples cooked down in some apple cider gastrique. Was so good, but I ain't got time to do that at home.
