Agree.
Yeah, it's just a code name but why? This will not be James Bond. It will be the first Bond film that doesn't star James Bond and James Bond is why we like 007.
At that point you might as well make a new franchise. Let's be honest. The new Bond will be cycled out and replaced after this. They'll likely go with another white male Bond and you'll now be without a female action star. Oops. If you start a new franchise, and it's successful, as long as you play your cards right, you can have longevity.
They very much should have made a new code name so they can do different things outside Bond tradition. Make the new series 012, starring a female spy or something, and use that as a way to further explore the organization.
But nah. Gotta make a 007 that's a woman.
I have very little interest in the prospect of this but I'll watch it and give it a chance.
I hope they know they need to hit this out of the park because there's little reason to have confidence in this.
The movie still stars James Bond. A woman isn't taking over the role or the lead. Bond 25 is about Felix getting Bond to come out of retirement for a mission, hence why someone else would have the 007 code name at that time because it was no longer in use by Bond himself. I'm sure it will be one scene where he shows up at MI6, M calls in 007, Bond gets up but a hot black woman also gets up and he smirks and probably fucks her a scene later.
can we do black lil mermaid next?
Even if that's true, there is hardly any continuity to bond movies anyways. Like he got married once and a shark ate his friend - that's about it.
If there's ever a female bond they'll make her his illegitimate daughter or someshit only to cast a guy again straight after so why get mad :yeshrug

never was a story that was important to me, so I'd rather not feign care
but the only thing of note, is it just me or are redheads being wiped from media? ariel, that spiderman girl, trish
Look guys.... we live in a multicultural, gender-fluid, racially diverse society. I need representation in my media whose aim is to convince me that fomenting coups, torturing civilians, and shaping economic interests of people who look like me is Good Actually. What we need, is an Indian trans non-binary Bond, orphaned during one of the Kashmiri conflicts, whose goal is to put down a '''''populist''''' in Brazil. Pay me. yas xween!
:trumps

:rage there is continuity if you pay attention. It just doesn't matter much. Obviously continuity is a lot more explicit in the Craig series, but it's not like Moore/Dalton/Brosnan eras didn't reference Connery era stuff every movie.
Casino Royale is the best Bond movie, show me where I’m wrong
Hopefully this won't be a dumb "you are out of touch" comedy film starring Daniel Craig and some hot actress.
Bond: "Ok, get me a car"
Money penny: "A Car? HAHHA, we just use a DRONE. LOok bbzzzt bad guy dead"
Bond: "Who's that guy"
Q: "Well EXCUSE me Mr. Bond, you are having such a simple binary understanding of the world. The correct term is cis-gender and I do not believe that the person in question identifies as such"
Blofeld: "Just like FORTNITE Am I RITE MR. Bond?"
Bond: "Fortnite?"
Blofeld: "LMAO, do you see this 007, your Grandpa Bond doesn't play games! He can't hope to stop the RUSSIAN HACKERS from HACKING INTO THE COMPUTERS OF A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE in CYBERSPACE to MAKE THE MOSCOW PUPPET WIN"

Which is precisely why a lady Bond probably wouldn't work.
Most of her targets will likely be men.

You're going to have to believe she can take a target as brutal as Craig? In order for that to work she'd have to more crafty. You wouldn't have fights like that.
A big reason Fast movies work is that they're ensembles. But Bond isn't an ensemble.
Lady Bond?
:sabu
Why?
I see no reason a compelling story couldn’t be crafted with a female bond. Swap out Craig with a woman and do the same movie? Of course not. Write a new story for a female 007? Why not?
I get unreasonably annoyedyeah, we know
I'm making a Kickstarter for Tyler Perry's Casino Royale
Ya I'm not arguing that, it's just none of that is in any way relevant to any of the plots or character development. They are one-off stories. Like episodes of a sitcom, by the end, the universe goes back to how it was before the episode began.
I get unreasonably annoyed when people talk about the Craig era being a "shared universe" after the SPECTRE twist. It's no more of a shared universe than any other era was, continuity just matters more these days. It's not a shared universe when all the movies are about one character and there isn't any crossover :rage
Garbage-tier movie franchise.
Terrible action in these movies, mostly terrible villains, contrived plots filled with macguffins. Gorgeous cinematography though, can't deny that.

Who cares, James Bond sucks. It's really telling that the best thing to come out of a 50 year old movie franchise was a n64 game.
No One Lives Forever: The Movie.Yeah, I'd often rather something like this than a lot of these almost random gender swap ideas for franchises. There's almost already a franchise out there (or two, Perfect Dark) that you could have a lot of fun with. Hell, Kingsmen already has really ran with a lot of the whole "Bond, but in reality" absurdity that a NOLF movie could certainly mine and add sexuality/gender satire to it. So it's not some wild concept that has to be more like Austin Powers even.
Count me in.

The 1967 movie is really bad but I never really cared for this style of star-bonanza, pretty loosely tied comedies. There's some good bits but it's drowning in boring material. It's that because the film fell apart as they were writing/shooting it and they kinda ran with it, five different people are credited as directors and it's been suggested that possibly 20 people in total wrote parts of the script they shot and a few more people than credited did actual on-set directing including many actors doing their own scenes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casino_Royale_(1967_film)#Production
I never understood the hard on for Craig's Casino Royale though.Because people forget the movie keeps going after the game is over.

Queen & Country--and I stress that I am NOT embellishing here at all--takes plots from television's The Sandbaggers and literally gender / minority swaps the characters. It's one of the most creatively bankrupt comics ever made and that's a medium rife with bankruptcy. It's a homage "quasi-sequel" :bolo

He’s beating the absolute crap out of her. Movies are fantasy but when I see a normal sized man punching the fuck out of a normal sized woman’s skull like that my natural suspense of belief just gets kicked in the ass and I don’t expect her to get up. Women can absolutely beat up men but when it’s as violently charged as that or Casino Royale? The movie magic fails. Good job locking the triangle though.

Stopped giving a shit about these movies with the Daniel Craig ones, I'll come back once they are omega cheese hilarity again. Aka what Martin said.
