PD post if you're OK.
-
why
-
Not surprising that people working minimum wage jobs under the heavy boot of capitalism have never felt the joy of going to Olive Garden because something good happened and they want to celebrate. The status quo isn't working. America needs to get back to its earliest ideals, which are perhaps best summed up by the words of Olive Garden: when you're here, you're family.

She wanted to conquer my tush. I took all six inches. She kept saying, "deeper? You sure?" and every time she did I'd shout yes.
No, why are people boycotting Olive Garden?
-
Shosta's "bottomless breadsticks" experience seems substantially different than what's advertised.

family restaurants are where you go to observe weirdos

They got accused of "funding Trump." :doge

There's also this from a few weeks ago.

Yes, even Taco Bell did it...in 2016, before Trump was elected. And they gave to other Republicans and a tiny bit to Democrats.
https://www.foodandwine.com/fwx/food/trump-taco-bell-campaign-donation
So far this year, TACO PAC has donated $53,625 to Republicans and $3,500 to Democrats. And while in absolute dollars it has only given the relatively small sum of $5,000 to Donald Trump’s campaign
-
Olive Garden may not be directly funding but their parent company is maybe? Big chain restaurants are going to support the candidate that keeps their taxes lower. :trumps

We better boycott every restaurant and grocery store out there, just to be safe! :punch
-
sometimes I think these boycotts are just marketing stunts utilizing the idea of reverse psychology
-
I've been boycotting them for years

i mean....i'm not sure how that's any better. trump has only been president once so far...

my thing with protests are people who try to guilt trip you. No, I am not boycotting Chick Fil A despite being LGBT.
I am selective in my boycotts. I boycott BET and have for the last 15 years. I refuse to watch it or buy anything they're associated with.
I also boycott Hobby Lobby.
But for some it's not good enough and I NEED to boycott CFA or I hate myself.
-
why do you boycott those things but not CFA?
is their chicken THAT good? :doge
-
Even without the politics cfa is dumb as fuck. They're a burger joint that doesn't have burgers, like Arby's. Laaaame.

Their lemonade on a hot summer day.

It’s interesting that like all the major fast food chains are on that list except the two that have vegan options Del Taco & Burger King
Actually Jack n the Box isn’t either. Not sure if they are vegan friendly.

I think PD only endorsed the all you can eat salad bowls.

One could say 'improved.'

Turn your back on authentic Italian cuisine to own the cons

When that whole controversy first started, I asked a gay co-worker about it and he said something like "still gonna eat there- those corporate guys may be buttholes, but the people working at the restaurants aren't and that chicken is too fucking good to skip out on." :lol

But Chikfila isn't even that good...

You can literally buy any other lemonade out there. What makes the Gay Conversion Therapy Lemonade better?

:kermit
Chicken Sandwiches are shit. Change My View. :crowder
-
I like a good spicy chicken sammich every now and then. Apart from that, don't care.
But Chikfila isn't even that good...
It would appear that most people don't agree with you. In the ATL, CFA is always backed up with cars waiting in line all day long. People go nuts for that shit here. When Popeye's did their new chicken sandwich last week, people were fucking racing down to their locations to get them. :lol
-
I'm happy Burger King isn't on the GOP support list though, because given a choice of fast food places, I intend to order Impossible Whoppers until they stop making them. Need to firm up my thoughts on it and I need a wide range of sample data. :science
-
I stay away from that "impossible" and "beyond" shit- it's actually worse for you than a regular burger is. I like some of the other veggie burgers though.
-
it's actually worse for you than a regular burger is.
Health isn't part of Impossible's pitch, and I'm not interested in eating healthily when I'm at a fast food joint. In terms of baseless "if you eat fake meat you'll get cancer in 20 years!!!" speculation: it may make me the target of ribbing but I do trust the FDA's process for food safety, and Impossible meat been deemed safe to eat.
Beyond that, it's a test of human biases. We won't get to replicators on Star Trek if we don't come around to the idea of lab-created food. (We wouldn't have corn or strawberries in their current form either...) All food innovations seem strange and possibly a little disgusting at first.
Bring on the GMO food and synthetic meat! It won't get any better if we're just sitting on our hands, so I'm extremely excited to see Impossible go nationwide with the #5 fast food chain.

The dietician I go to told me this. Note that this is not directed at all "meatless" burgers but just those particular brands.
https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/impossible-and-beyond-how-healthy-are-these-meatless-burgers-2019081517448
https://www.cnbc.com/2019/07/03/are-beyond-meats-burgers-healthier-than-red-meat-dietitians-say-no.html
-
I was also going to question the concept of how something could be quantitatively less healthy than a typical American fast food burger, to the point that "real meat" is the obvious choice based on the "health" aspect alone.

These two links are the strongest endorsement of Impossible Foods I've ever seen. They're clearly trying to rain on the parade but all they can come up with is "it's basically the same as red meat."
Which is the entire point!
The same can’t necessarily be said of the aforementioned beef substitutes, which have been created to mimic what many people love about a burger — the red juicy center and meaty taste. Along with the ambition to replicate hamburgers comes a comparable amount of saturated fat.
Rumsey pointed to the amounts of sodium and saturated fat in plant-based burgers, which is roughly the same as that in a traditional beef burger.
-
They're not a healthy alternative is the point being made here. Other types of meatless burgers are better for you.
I trust my dietician and have no problem not eating that stuff anyway- they make my stomach feel like shit. Wondering if it's the pea protein or something.
-

Soylent's probably better for you than a Whopper, that isn't the point. If I'm in a Burger King, I want something that actually tastes like one of their burgers.
People can choose meat substitutes for reasons other than health.
-
Right- I'm specifically talking about the health aspect of it.
-
I ate at Chick-fil-A today. :yeshrug
-
I will be picking up a T-Mobile Tuesdays free breakfast burrito from TBell this week. Since it's free I guess I'm in the clear. *whew*
-
If OG went away, would anyone even notice?
There are probably half a dozen Italian places in any given town. They are all better than OG.

There's a lot of people out there who seemingly don't understand that other restaurants exist outside of chains.
-
Or maybe they just want to feel comfortable knowing that they can go to any chain and get the same crap or whatever. :-\

-
What's more authentically Italian than disliking black and brown people. If anything this merely proves my decade-old point that Olive Garden is indeed real, high quality Italian cuisine.
-
I already bought the Olive Garden Lifetime Pass (https://www.olivegarden.com/specials/never-ending-pasta-pass), so I have no need to ever buy OG food again. :smug
-
But Chikfila isn't even that good...
Nah. Respect your opinion but nah.

People are getting them because they’re just as good as a regular burger without literal torture and eugenics being applied to an innocent living, sentient being.
-
I've been eating a lot of chicfila. I don't care too much for chicken sandwiches, I just love homophobia.
-
But Chikfila isn't even that good...
Nah. Respect your opinion but nah.
Their food is good (although the new Popeye's chicken sandwich destroys the CFA equivalent, especially cause you can get it with spicy mayo) but tainted with evil
Also I don't trust anyone responding "my pleasure" to me unless we've already established a dom-sub relationship, real talk

there's a hot chicken place down the street that i go to for a chicken sandwich but if i didn't have that i'd go to CFA just because service there is actually quick. haven't had the popeyes one so can't judge it.
the chicken place has previously been a donut shop and a crepe place so i'm already preparing myself for it going away :-\

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/kfc-beyond-meat-menu-will-test-plant-based-chicken-this-week-in-smyrna-georgia-store-near-atlanta/
Kentucky Fried Chicken is the latest fast-food giant to explore serving meatless meat, saying Monday that it will test Beyond Meat's chicken substitute this week in one of the chain's Atlanta restaurants. The promotion will run Tuesday, August 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at a KFC outlet in Smyrna, Georgia.
Local diners will be able to choose chicken nugget combo meals and boneless wings that will use Beyond Meat's plant-based poultry alternative. KFC will assess the trial ahead of potentially rolling out the product nationwide.

HEY
bork’s right, impossible burger is trash, eat a bean burger, hemp burger, anything but this paper fiber ass fake meat
I hadn’t eaten beef for a couple months and was excited to sink my teeth into this supposedly imperceptible substitute, a burger was the one thing I was still craving and nope. That does not taste like beef and the texture is sad.

Burgerville adzuki bean burger :rejoice

You know what the original meatless meat is? Pasta.
