Apparently, it's 90 minutes or more each way from home to work. I average 3 and a half hours in traffic each day. Basically fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck traffic.
-
If I’m not home 30 minutes after I’ve clocked out I’m cranky
-
I can walk home in 25 mins.
-
I’m 5 minute drive at a max speed of 25 mph. A few years ago I had an hour each way. I don’t mess with long commutes anymore. Shit is soul crushing.
-
I can walk home in 25 mins.
That makes you an super walker, not a super commuter.
-
Takes 20-ish minutes on average to go to work in the morning. Maybe 30 at the most when going home. Fortunately that's only two days out of the week- I work at home for the rest of the week and it's amazing- instead of worrying about if there's traffic, I get to sleep in.
:rejoice

No, because I hold my hands like they are turning an imaginary steering wheel the whole way home and beep beep at the old folks I overtake.

yeah, that sucks
-
45 back and forth fuuuuuuuuuck everything :-\
-
I did the hour+ long commute for about 2 years and I hated my life. Didn’t help that I was working 10 hours. I was making bank, but was miserable during it.
Now I’m 15 minutes away.

You gotta get out of SoCal. That's miserable...
-
More jobs need to offer work from home options, where and when possible.
-
A LOT of people can’t handle/be trusted to work from home.
They get way more time from me if I work from home. Doin it wrong!
-
More than 30 minutes commute and you ain't really living life breh.
-
long commutes suck so much. I wish australasia and 'murca had better public transport. 10 mins on a bike for me mostly. bus or uber if it's raining..
-
Anywhere from 45 to an hour and 5 to get to the office depending on the traffic. Seems so many who live out here work for public schools since in the summer, there's like half as many cars on the road.
-
if you have a 45 minute drive each way and you calculate that out, you're spending almost 5% of every 7 day week commuting
and extrapolating that out further, ultimately 5% of your life
-
I spend 45-60 minutes each way and I spend most of the time reading novels. This month I have free trials for both LinkedIn Learning and Apple Arcade so I've been staring at a screen instead.
-
60 - 90 minutes each way, sometimes longer if the weather is bad. I have a tablet full of music/movies/games which makes things better, but it still fucking sucks. On a good day, I leave at 5:45 am and get home around 5 pm.
-
Update: Traffic is still bad in Southern California.
-
A long drive to work isn’t too bad it you’re in the texting lane. I basically just read Reddit and watch Netflix and stuff.
-
I can't beat Kasparov so I guess not.
-
i generally work from home but it can weirdly get more intense because i become conscious of the fact that any time i'm not doing work i'm just "at home", whereas if i'm in the office i'll happily sit doing fuck all waiting for the nodes to chew through a render or just chat with people or whatever.
there are also times when you get mental cabin fever and you can't mentally disconnect given that your "office" is the corner of your living room. i feel like being doing some gig economy bum work one day a week just for a change of scenery and chance to actually use my limbs.
massively recommend not having a smartphone for anyone else who works by proxy who can get away with it. whatsapp is the worst nightmare for client relations and saying you don't use a smartphone is treated like veganism or some shit where they accept it like a lifestyle choice.
-
25 minutes each way and we're looking at a house tomorrow that's about two miles from work.
If I ever found myself driving an hour or more to and from work I'm looking for either a new job or a new home.
-
42

I have 20 to 30 minutes driving, and I think that is too much. Certainly is when you're used to walking 10 minutes and being there >:(
-
RIP. Sorry man, that sucks. I got used to a 30-40 minute ride, but that feels productive. I got an ebike a little while back, and moved a bit closer around the same time. Takes me ten mins now, and i don't have to shower when I get to work. moving to a new apartment this weekend, will be about 5 mins walk :rejoice
Every move closer to the city, my house gets a lil smaller but I actually don't mind. I also won't have roommates for the first time in my adult life.
-
ebike is pretty revelatory tbh. save by barely using ride sharing anymore, don't really worry abt drink riding (kinda reckless but eh), and my bike assists up to 45kph. easily beats morning traffic.
-
My commute is 40-55 minutes, mostly forest highway. Put it on cruise control and relax 8)
-
Think its like 30 min there and 35 back.
Ish.
-
9 minute walk, 24 minute train, 7 minute walk
-
20 minute drive, 7 minute walk.
Which can turn into a 40 minute drive on a bad traffic day.
-
So… I live in south Osaka and work in Kyoto now. It takes me four trains, across two monthly passes, and 90 minutes one-way to get there. So I spend 3 hours commuting every day. It's not great.
Previously, I tried a route which was the only one that allowed for a single monthly pass, but it was 115 minutes one way, so nearly 4 hours out of each day commuting, so oddly I feel like I'm ahead of the game despite 3 hours of travel.
-
my office moved a few km's north and turned my daily 30 minute commute into a 1.10 hour slogfest with the subway, another subway and then a 20 minute busride.
one of the big reasons i quit working, that shit was fucking soul murdering
-
9 minute walk, 24 minute train, 7 minute walk
That's exactly mine, if you delete everything after the first comma. :smug
-
10 minute walk, 5 minute drive, 3 minute skateboard to my one job.
5 minute drive, 45 minute walk, impossible to skateboard to my other one.
-
20 minute drive, 7 minute walk.p
Which can turn into a 40 minute drive on a bad traffic day.
whoa! Same as me. I used to ride a bike with took 25 all up but then Someone stole it so
-
Takes me 5 mins to drive, 10 mins to cycle and bout tree fiddy to walk
-
I worked at home for awhile, it was not great for me.
I've had a 12-minute walk/15-minute train ride for a job I held for 10.5 years. The commute was great. The job was not, and I eventually became depressed.
I'm enjoying my current job despite that 90-minute commute. Between good projects and awesome co-workers, the commute is worth it. Just tiring.
-
about an hour to one office and 30 mins to the other. Although I did have to go to one of our further away offices recently and that was a 12 hour travel day and I hated it.
-
I actually miss driving. :-\
-
I don’t miss traffic
-
I don’t miss traffic
I dunno, around here the traffic is less but not DEAD dead. Which is a shame because I was expecting like Tom Clancy's The Division level of "dead" but life still goes on for commuting.
-
I actually miss driving. :-\
Don’t miss it but I went to the grocery store today and felt like I haven’t driven in years. Weird feeling.
