The movie Blade Runner happens on 20 November 2019. also yes, boomer shit.

Re-watched the Final Cut in 4K earlier this month. Batty's monologue made me tear up this time. Great film that doesn't overstay its welcome.
-
Some scaled Ultra HD captures, adjusted for SDR a bit. Some aren't a fan of the preserved grain in this transfer but it's inherent to the film and gives it character that suits the noir style imo.

I tried to watch it once and fell asleep

I should give it another chance. I didn't like it despite loving most other dystopian science fiction works. I really enjoyed Blade Runner 2049 so perhaps I was just having a bad day when I watched the original.

One of my favorite movies. Unfortunately I saw the theatrical cut first, dismissed it as unremarkable and forgot about it until being shown the director's cut many years later.
Blade Runner is not a film you can only watch once, you need to see it multiple times to appreciate it.
I am still undecided whether 2049 is a worthy sequel, but I have only seen it once.
-
Ah, this explains why it's being shown at my local cinema at the weekend. Seeing it Sunday :)

Is it the 20th? I remember Twitter going on about it just being November 2019. Supposedly it goes from the 19th to the 22nd, but I don't recall the movie giving actual dates.

Me neither, the intro just says
Los Angeles
November, 2019

No specific dates are mentioned in the movie, you can only tell that the story takes place over the course of several days.
Edit: I think the November 20 date is from Blade Runner 2049.
-
I thought maybe it was based on Roy's 3-year lifespan, but the scene showing the profiles of the replicants has his incept date as January 2016, so that's not it.
-
4 years, but since he died in November 2019 instead of January 6, 2020 it doesn't seem to be very precise.
