Title: So US Millennials/GenZ barely move living locations, boys.

Just 9.8% of Americans moved between 2018 and 2019, per housing data out Wednesday — the lowest percentage since the Census Bureau started keeping track of statistics in 1948, the New York Times first reported.

Why it matters: The data indicates the United States population is "aging, and older people are much less likely to move than younger people. But even younger people are moving less than before," the Times notes.

By the numbers: About 29% of people aged 20 to 24 years old moved between 2005 and 2006. That number is about 20% today, William Frey, a senior demographer at the Brookings Institution told the Times.

The big picture: "When factories would close, workers would move to other parts of the country to find jobs in new ones," the Times writes. "Young people flocked to cities and rapidly growing suburbs, where jobs were plentiful and rent was cheap."

Driving the news: A combination of low-wage jobs and rising rent prices in large cities have contributed to the housing stagnation, the Times notes.

Millenial here.  I personally enjoy where I live. Thought about LA, but dat traffic doe.

Hmm, I was always under the assumption that it was the opposite... millennials were more likely to uproot to go to job hubs or moving from the midwest to "trendy" cities... well, I moved 7 miles down the road from where I grew up so I dunno. A number of my friends have left, due to high living costs for my LIer friends and a dead job market for my college friends upstate.

I'm not too crazy about LI/NY metro but it's home, I've got family and a good job here, and can't really think of too many places I'd rather be (maybe Seattle, DC, or San Diego).

People that have roommates well into their 30's don't have money to move cities?  :ohhh

I think it just illustrates that there is more parity of opportunity (or lack of opportunity, if you view it cynically) in the US than ever before.

In the 50's and 60's, the South was a shithole and the easiest way of improving your economic lot was to move north. Then as the north declined, opportunity for growth was greatest in the West (or Texas) in the 70's. Then in the 90's, parts of the deep south began to catch up with the rest of the country.

Texas is pretty popping these days.  Tons of movement there. Lots of liberals moving there and probably enacting the same idiotic policies that led blue states to become ridiculously expensive in the first place! Already happening in Austin.

I want to leave the US and hang out with cool, weird, fringe-y ex-pats. What are my options? Where are the cool ex-pat communities that will let me take my white privilege international?

Medellin, Colombia.

Cheap and pretty cool. Just do your research and find Gringo friendly areas.  You don't need a car. It has great mass transit. But a strong ex-pat community.

I know someone that bought apartments or something near where the tsunami was in Thailand (phuket or phukit... easy name to remember). Can I just go over there and live there and the Queen of Thailand or whatever those people have will leave me alone? I haven’t talked to him in a few years, but the dude liked me a lot and might potentially help me out.

Phuket (and SEA in general) has a pretty large expat community. Thailand I have heard is chill, one thing about region is that you need to do a bit of research cause some areas are a lot more muslim than others. I think I would also avoid the Phillipines at moment.

I worked in the Phillipines (Cebu) for half a year, and felt anything but done living there. Then I've also worked in Oslo, but that is mostly the same culture as in Denmark, and it bored me a bit. Sadly a bit tied to my current location now though, but I wish to move away again and make it permanent.

You get paid shit since many boats are chartered in countries with a low minimum wage.  And you work like a dog.

I wasn't going to list any males but Fulci made City of the Living Dead (Gates of Hell in the US). Watched it on my 10th birthday and introduced me to gore so extreme that two of my friends threw up their cake. You know the scene if you have watched the movie.

I’ve posted the lengthy guys-puking scene here before. It’s also accompanied by wonderful Frizzi music. Have you seen The Beyond? It’s his masterpiece imo. It’s like he took the City of the Living Dead recipe and ironed out the flaws.

Just got off a nearly 4 hour phone call with my ex-pat friend. He said he could hook me up and help me out in either Chiang Mai or Phuket. He also said his brother could probably help me out in Belize or Costa Rica, but I don’t really know him so I’m uncomfortable asking for help.

I’m going to consider doing this. There are three big hurdles but they’re doable.

And yes we talked about sex tourism in Thailand and the part he plays in it as a rental property owner.  There are lots of awkward signs.

You guys know I'm a complete prostitute myself and I would share lurid stories when I could, especially ones involving Reset/NeoGaf admins and politicians.

I'm also looking at more legit moving opportunities through work, but that shit takes time and in a way has more difficult obstacles.

Comments on an article he sent me that he links to customers (https://www.thailandredcat.com/having-sex-with-a-thai-bar-girl/):

Quote
"I’m 30 years older then my little go go girl. I have feelings for her. I lived in Bkk for almost 5 years. She gives me good sex and I think she also enjoys it. She’s totally honest I think in many ways. She like her “work” and most customers she enjoy having sex with. She even say she have orgasm with more than 20%. She say she prefer white middle aged white males. If she like the customer and “feel good” and he have a big dick – 19 to 23 cm – she comes more easily (I’m smaller). Totally honest but maybe rare. I helped her with some money before to finish her house but now I don’t pay her nothing anymore. Just pay for dinner and she Sleeping over 3-4 times a week."

Quote
"Coming to Thailand since ’91… Back then i was a handsome young bloke (27 yo). Lived at Bang Saphaan and Thap Sakae. Banged 25+ local girls (not hookers) but never comitted to one. Am 53 yo old now and 13 years together with farang woman (aged 41). She gave me great sex as well as intellectual input. I could never stay any longer than 1 shot (ie. 3 minutes) with a Thai girl. Their bodies are heaven (at least 15% of them; the rest is obese these days or unfit), and they do whatever u ask them (licking asshole kha? no porrrrbpleeeeem kha) but fucking is sooooooooooo 90s. i love my femaled educated and critical. thàt turns me on. not some petite thai whore :-)"

Quote
"Visited Thailand in 1995 as a 21 year old, felt embrassesed back home being with LBFMPBR ( beautiful girls )

I got involved with a westerner. 14 years later that hoare has cost me half a million dollars. 12.5 million baht. Stole my 11 year old daughter. Still going through Court.

As a male nurse after separation l have listened to many dying soles. My understanding is!
Life is all about company and sex. Being honest to yourself. fuck the rest, if they care they will not care.

It is what is Is.

At 42, my dollar will be converted to baht at least once or twice a year till I die for Quality and Quantity to fuck LBFMPBR over unsatisfing limited contact with expensive white trash, sorry mum, bad luck dad! love you both.

LBFMPBR loony is coming back…"

He also said the locals think all foreigners are poor perverts, and the way to counteract this as an expat is to dress really flashy and spend money publicly. This sounds ideal.

Thailand doesn’t offer me much sexually. I’m there for the opportunity to live off of human machinery. I get the impression that some of you doubt my capacity for evil. When I prod at you in PMs you do not seem proud of your deviant acts. I’m sick of hunting for evil and not finding anything. Maybe if I prove I’m evil the minions will come to me.

Not my brand of evil. We need a sort of evil socialism movement. The government doesn’t provide enough opportunities for people from respectable homes to get into the good kinds of crime. This evil socialism program would generate revenue by feeding a much-larger-than-now private prison industry. These are the solutions I need to see to want to stay in America.
