In August 2019 my town fell victim to a mass shooter and 7 lives were taken. This song came to mind. First El Paso then Dallas and my town of Odessa. MJ would’ve rereleased this for everyone state and family affected by the terror were facing

Privileged to see this when I was a child. Now I’m nearing 50 and the current crop of egotistical selfish lustful musical performers could not even imagine standing together for anything righteous.

This was without a doubt one of music's finest moments. Now, almost thirty - five years later, the music industry has been destroyed and the attitudes of the world in general are inhuman and empty. It's time for serious reflection, and let us once again stand up and be proud to live and love one another!
idk what i think is the worst song of the 80s. but it's probably something (everything?) by phil collins
"Sussudio", Phil Collins (1985)
Critic Michael Saunders in the Sun-Sentinel named "Sussudio" as the worst song of the rock era, describing it as "insipid" and "indefensibly stupid".[80] Guardian journalist Tom Service wrote: "'Sussudio' brings me out in a cold sweat… there's no colder or more superficial sound in popular music."[81] Michael Musto in The Village Voice listed it as the second worst song ever and said that it "could have been the theme song for the Third Reich, it was that insidious and evil".[82] Creative Loafing Charlotte writer Matt Brunson called it the worst song of the 1980s.[83] The track has also been criticised for sounding too similar to Prince's "1999";[84] Mark Caro in the Chicago Tribune labelled it a "ripoff".[85]
Sussudio is a decent 80's song. :hmph
"True", Spandau Ballet (1983)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AR8D2yqgQ1U
"True" was noted as the worst song ever by St. Petersburg Times music columnist Sean Daly[72] and The Guardian journalist Luke Williams;[68] Williams's colleague Michael Hann described the track as "dreadful wine-bar soul".[73] Seattle Post-Intelligencer critic Robert Jamieson called it the worst love song of all time.[74] The track also appeared in the Houston Press' "10 Songs We Never, Ever Want to Hear Again, Ever",[75] while the line "I bought a ticket to the world but now I've come back again" was included in NME's "50 Worst Pop Lyrics of All Time".[76]
it's very Kraftwerk-y, it's just the execution is ...yeah.GB's #2 pick is worse than Kokomo. Koko is just bad '80s Beach Boys without Brian at the helm. It's not worse than this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdCH7ZewAfY
It was maybe more inescapable but it's not as bad a song.
This is a proto-NIN song :leon
The traditional pick of Starship’s We Built this City is a worthy contender.
I’d just like to say I think 99 Luftballons is a bad pick for a bad song.
Similarly if anyone here says Mickey by Toni Basil, I’m gonna have to choke a cool young dude.
Cultural differences I guess, the song was the tip of the shit ice berg that was called "Neue Deutsche Welle". If I'd consider these songs eligible, they would be all up there. :yuck
After the complete omission of Kokomo, declaring this the 2nd best song of the 80's was the most egregious mistake.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=La4Dcd1aUcE
That is easily a contender for one of the five worst songs of the 80's :trash
3. 99 Luftballons
idk what i think is the worst song of the 80s. but it's probably something (everything?) by phil collinsI've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds.

He wrote it in 1983 and it was recorded in 1989. But if you want to use that official release date, OK. Put it on the worst of 90s list.Plus its hook dates back to 1981.

People also ask
Which came first under pressure or Ice Ice Baby?
The song is a medley of "Under Pressure", originally recorded in 1981 by Queen and David Bowie, and "Ice Ice Baby", recorded by Vanilla Ice in 1989. This 1989 version of "Ice Ice Baby" originally sampled the bassline from "Under Pressure".
Was not was “Walk the Dinosaur”

Don’t let the cool cats singing fool you. It’s the cringiest, most try hard novelty song ever created. Soulless studio session players that did all the coke and lost every ounce of dignity or artistry they might have once had.
According to an interview with co-writer Randy Jacobs, it "was an infectious sing-along with a Flintstonesque video that probably got played on MTV way too much. But even that seemingly good-time anthem had a dark side. [...] The song’s about nuclear Armageddon. It became a dance (anthem) because of the video. They connected it with the girls in the little Pebbles and Bam-Bam outfits. All the sudden it became, like, 'do the mashed potato' or 'the twist.'"
not his worst song of the 80s i guess but i cbf going into the trash bin. 80s billy :yuck

kokomo the worst song of the 80s and hey mickey the best? :kobeyuck your list blows
Rock critic Robert Christgau commented on the perceived 'obscene' content of the lyric "So come on and give it to me / Any way you can / Any way you want to do it / I'll take it like a man". Christgau wrote in a review at the time that Basil "was the only woman ever to offer to take it up the ass on Top 40 radio." However, Basil adamantly denies this: "NO! That's ridiculous. People read shit into everything. It's not about anything dirty. You change the name from boy to girl" — i.e., from "Mickey" to "Kitty" — "and they read anything they want into it! When it's a guy singing about a girl, it's a sweet line. But when a girl sings it, it must mean butt-fucking! This is how the wrong foot gets cut off when the doc wheels you into the E.R. Then it's Micky Dolenz and butt-fucking."
