Title: Keto diet any good, boys?
Post by: Rman on November 29, 2019, 12:45:10 PM
Some modest holiday pounds are coming on and it seems this keto diet thing is all the rage right now.  So I'm thinking of trying it short term to get sexy again.  Only need to lose 10 pounds or so.  I love meat and cheese, but I don't know if I can eat that stuff every meal lolz.

Also, what about constipation? No beans, fiber-rich bread, starches, fruits.

Does anyone do this diet? I really see folks get cut up on this thing.

The only people that should adhere to a strict keto diet are people with type 2 diabetes. So no.

i did off and on in 3 month increments for about a year, lost like 90 lbs. for weightloss its more of a "the more you have the quicker you'll lose it" but its not so bad. you can feel a little rough the first couple days, but if you drink no-sugar gatorades and eat salty food like pickles you'll get over that.

otherwise it's surprisingly easy. eggs/bacon and/or coffee and cream in the morning, meats/cheese/pickles/nuts for lunch, meat+veggies for dinner. was easy for me cause i wasn't much for breads/cereals anyway. i do love beans and potatoes and have a sweet tooth so that's how i got fat.

i do take a fiber supplement but with as much protein and fat that you'll be eating you won't have to worry about constipation.

these days i just eat less overall with some exceptions, that seems to work quite well.

If you're looking to lose 10-15 lbs, just do intermittent fasting.

I did it for a bit.
As mentioned, it's good on a short burst (but then, any CICO will do on a short burst) but in the long run, it can be a hassle to upkeep, depending on where you live in the world and the local cuisine.
Also, prepare to literally shit bricks.

Lost about 40 pounds since I started in March.  I've basically cheated every other weekend since August though.  It's been a lot harder to maintain the diet for me since I started training for a half marathon.  I can eat bacon 8 days a week, but I simply must allow myself a real pizza and some spaghetti every now and then.

It's really gotten me to kick the habit of having a beer or two a night though.
