No racist crap from some of the extended family this year thank god. Mainly because this old 70 something family friend didn't make it out this year.

My mom got mad because my younger brother revealed he was a “sugar baby” years ago.

All the crazy/obnoxious/irredeemable arseholes have been exiled from the family gatherings in the last few years so we had a very easy Christmas.
Only thing I had to deal with was my shut-in "game developer*" cousin trying to tell another cousin how Death Standing was a great narrative experience.
*He's never published a game or worked on a game that's been published. He's just been developing some 2D side scrolling story driven game for the past 15 years that he won't show to anyone.

"Captain Marvel is a man!"
It was really hard to argue against cause I had to try and establish the fact that not only are there multiple Marvel Captain Marvels (including the woman they made the movie about, and her male predecessor), but also a bunch of DC Captain Marvels that were actually created first. Which are both really hard concepts to grasp apparently, so I just gave up.
Got both my liberal side and my DC fanboy side hackles up. :lol

Cousin lives out in the Midwest. They got married last year. For their Christmas present I gave them my gun, a semiauto pistol. We discussed beforehand and they accepted the gift. I believe a family should be protected and my cousin is on my side. Give gift to cousin during gift giving because I didn't have time to do it privately. Anti-gun family freaked out and cousin gave gun back. Had them talking like,"they'll shoot themselves! Guns are dangerous!" SMH. In the end probably for the best because of FFL transfer fees. Ended up selling the gun to a shop and gave the money to my cousin for Christmas.
I also gave another cousin a tactical knife and no one batted an eye.

It gets even better when he realizes that my other grandpa was among the people that were deported. (Counted as roma or sinti since he was a traveler.)
