Super Lesbian Animal RPG (or SLARPG for short) is an upcoming queer fantasy rpg game in the vein of Earthbound, or Final Fantasy XV. benji kept bringing this up in another thread so I decided to try out the demo for myself. SLARPG is about a NEET lesbian trans fox girl who decides that she wants to take her relationship with her bunny girlfriend to the next level and go adventuring with her and her guild. She ghosts her gf for a few weeks to go train in the magical arts to become a paladin and after her brief training is complete this is where your adventure begins.

After a narrative prelude you're given the choice of three different classes. I chose "amorous paladin" because I thought it would add an érotique flavor to the game (however, I was mistaken). I haven't replayed this demo with the other classes.

This game plays like basically every other Earthbound clone in the universe. That said, the art style is very cute, and there is a charming 16-bit soundtrack that gives the demo a sense of whimsy and adventure.

The characters are not nearly as creative. This is an extraordinarily boring cast even by furry standards and screams "This is what I think having friends in real life is like even though I've never had any". It's possible that the developer has a lot of grand ideas but unfortunately the only area available in this game is your quaint hometown.

Gameplay is exactly like Earthbound. You equip armor, weapons, and charms to characters that are able to use them. You attack or use spells. This is fairly standard stuff by now so I have nothing to say about this. There are only four enemies in the whole demo and none of them are very interesting (dust bunnies - one mermaid). There is one interesting aspect... your gf's special attacks are directionally based and your opponents will usually have a weakness to one direction, which you can discover by educated guessing. That's clever but not enough to spare the creator from harsh judgment. This really is an insipid affair.

This could be an interesting game and I'll keep my eye on it. I'm also enthused by the prospect of having more LGBTQ centric indie games, a gaping hole in the space of videogames right now. One complaint I have is that there should be more than 20 minutes of content. I would also like to see more lesbian material in here, for realism.
Given the pace of development we should expect a full game by 2030. Anyway, thanks for the recommendation.

The exclusively indie itch.io site has a growing number of titles which identify as such, though most I've seen tend to be visual novels (among them some similarly subtle titles such as I Can't Believe the Most Popular Girl in School is a Lesbian, Just Like Me!).

It looks awful.
Just by the name you can guess that the writer/creator has no fantasy whatsoever as the name is literally what the game is.
There's a reason DOOM wasn't called Super Space Marine kills Demons in 3D.
Even something like Melody's Quest would've at least made the title of the game more interesting.
Or maybe Anxious Antics.
Alas, we can't all be creators I guess :idont

That looks as insipid and dull as most other indie rpgs biting off of Earthbound. The only lesbians I know aren’t gamers, but if they were I could instantly picture their disdain at being offered that pink and purple nightmare.

It's not even finished yet. It's just a 20-minute beta demo for a game that will eventually come out sometime later [maybe].

Making video games is very difficult, and doing it on your own is even harder. I think the creator of this could probably succeed as an artist on a team with others if they chose to.

This is a furry game, putting lesbian in the title does not absolve it of that sin.
