The game comes out this week.  Any hype on it, Boreans?

Kakarot sounds like the name of a Counter-Strike map.

Z-on has been stupid shit. The aliens at the end of the original mark the point where Toriyama basically turned from the Journey to the West parody clone into stupid-shit.

Like, I like Piccolo and he's a better dad to Goku's kids compared to Goku himself, but holy shit we didn't really need this.

Boku No Hero Academia is a better Shonen Manga, TBH.

I really wish I hadn't burned myself out on shitty DBZ games in the 00's because I would have been down for this like 12 years ago.

I bought every single terrible Budokai Tenkaichi back in the day.

I don't know much about Dragonball but I got Xenoverse as a gift and it was pretty fun. Is this more of the same kind of thing?

No, this is a single player adventure game.

Shut the fuck up Nintex. The game looks terrible, will play it once it's on sale. Can't wait to play the god damn raditz saga for the billionth time.

Just replay legacy of goku or the old snes rpgs. This looks low budget and repetetive. Very empty world. Nothing to do but fish and collect generic orbs. This is a twenty dollar game at most.

I don't know much about Dragonball but I got Xenoverse as a gift and it was pretty fun. Is this more of the same kind of thing?

This seems like the same game but without all the time travel craziness and multiplayer, I'd just stick to Xenoverse.

Edit: As much as I'm shitting on this, I'm probably going to rent it and bang out a playthrough. I really like Dragon Ball.  :goty2

Xenoverse is a fighting game with adventure elements.  This is a full-on adventure/action-RPG.

So every dragonball game just retells the same story of DBZ over and over again? What the fuck lol. I was looking at DBZ games cause of this last night and it seems that's mostly the case.

At least in FighterZ it wasn't just watching saiyan and namek again. Getting to see characters interact beyond recreating Z story arcs is like water in a desert, even if the plot is as dumb as "bad lady ressurects all the villains"

I don’t pick up every DBZ game so a retread through the story (which I actually love) every 4-5 years isn’t that bad.

Also: how are people playing this already?

One of my favorite DBZ games was Legends on PS1 I think(?) I played with an emulator.
Also, there was one epic version of Mugen I forgot the name of that had like 120 characters or something.

Honestly, though: The time between Z and Super is like... 10-15 years? So it's not a surprise.

The Xenoverse games are original stories, too.  And I think Super-Heroes?  But that game looked boring as fuck.

Xenoverse is original in that you do create a brand new character, but your character is simply hired to time travel to all the original Z arcs one by one, in order.  :doge

I sorta wish Xenoverse 3 was made instead.

I ended up being gifted this. I like the feel of the combat compared to xenoverse so far, it's slower and the moves are more satisfying to pull off. Raditz was awesome, the boss battles really can to go over the top when PVP isnt a part of the design.

Theres not much to do other than quest, fight, and fish, but its been fun to do those things so far.

The music is my favorite part of the game, probably.  :lol The kikuchi score  basically saves the world map from being terrible by providing a pleasant enough atmosphere to grab orbs to.

I’d get this if it were on Switch. The visuals aren’t good enough to earn a spot on the TV.

I desperately want a mod that removes bloom/blur filter/basically all the screen effects. The game can look nice from certain angles and looks good in combat, but tjeir artistic desicions make a lot of cutscenes ugly.

Seven hours in and I'm killing time before heading off to Namek. Between transformations and the buffs you get from the boards, the game is starting to come together now; the first few hours are so bare that they dont leave a great first impression. The Raditz fight is a great early indicator of where the combat is going to go, but I am not joking when I say that until nearly six hours in when you fight the Saiabman, you literally fight one skull robot enemy. It feels fuckin cheap, you cant take it seriously, and all the sidequests end with someone summoning more of these robots that youre already getting harrassed by on the world map. Just feels like crap, all the insane beasts and monsters that Akira Toriyama can draw, yet her i am punching a mass produced robot while training for the saiyans' arrival.

I've reached an intermission section where the game has given me a few side quests, I can customize my party, theres more types of enemies roaming the map, and its a lot better. The game needed to start with a section like this rather than just throwing you into Raditz immediately, even if thats what the fans expect.
