Title: Are any Android games any good.
Post by: The Sceneman on February 14, 2020, 08:54:40 PM
Want to play something. Anything will do.

My favourite mobile game is Pocket Planes if that means anything. I like clickers

If you like pocket planes you might like Airlines Manager. It’s a deeper game.

Gwent in March. Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic, Civilization Revolution 2 (YMMV on this one), Eternal Card Game, Mini Metro...

I bought Hoop League Tactics on iOS and have enjoyed it a bunch. I believe it is on Android as well.

There's a new, non-shitty version of Tetris out since EA finally lost the rights to it.

Are games like Lara Croft GO available there? That was a good mobile-tailored grid based puzzle game.

I think Monument Valley 1 and 2 are on android  as well. I played that on iOS though

I have Downwell on my Android as it was free at some point last year.

Data Wing has pretty good movement control and was enjoyable but very short (if you're on a plane and got nothing else I recommend)

You Must Build a Boat was interesting but I don't think I finished it cause it got boring near the end, way too much stuff to buy/unlock.

Pixel Dungeon was okay but way too hard.

Android games suck, but then again, I barely play regular games anymore

True, 10000000 was maybe better overall due to being a more tight design.

Thanks for all the suggestions  :)

I tried Adventure Communist, the UI is nice but I need my clickers to have a good visual representation of what I'm clicking towards, not just arbitrarily large numbers. Also some of the visual design was just... weird. Like, why is one of your "scientists" a mix the Joker and Wacko from Animaniacs? Just bizarre stuff. Wont be playing this anymore.

Also tried Tap Titans 2. This is better, but I'm quite removed from this style of game and I don't know whats going on. Maybe I broke the game or something but my party is doing insane amounts of damage while my active 'tap' damage is like 0.001% of a boss' health. I'm leaving it idling and passing 200 levels at a time- yeah no idea wtf is going on, is this intended? The 'lore' is ridiculous and full of spelling errors.

You Must Build A Boat sounds like a better, more cynical/self-aware post modern take on this kind of thing so I'll get it

Crush Them All I think has a bit more to it than Tap Titans

There's a Diablo like clicker but I can't remember the name of it and what I found on the Play Store doesn't look like it, there's now a billion of these fucking clicker/idle things in like every combination though. And I thought Steam had a shitload.

No games that would normally be played with a controller are good on Android.

Buttons and tactile feedback ftw.

This is a trick question.

No games of any kind are any good.

I just play emulators on mine...  Old school RPG's can be pretty doable with touchscreen.

You Must Build A Boat is very very good. No ads or timers or service shit, just match 4 with a charming wrapper. Good deconstruction of mobile game design, very post-modern. Love it

Turns out that once I understood what Adventure Communist was doing I got hooked on it - up to rank 30 now :( It's pretty impressive from a computer science perspective, as a recent grad I can appreciate what the code is doing.

So I went deeper and installed Bud Farm: Idle Tycoon. Now this is some proper degenerate shit. I even like how the UI is ghetto as it helps with the stoner vibe. The writing is actually pretty funny and not based on memes, just classic stoner movie type jokes.

There was a weed clicker/idle game on Steam that had a massive memory leak so it got progressively slower as it ran, I was like, this is perfect. :lol

Less Dark Souls more Bloodbourne with that gun. Still, impressive they're able to do that with mobile.
