governors office? He isn't governor anymore. He didn't run for reelection after his first term.

He would have lost if he did, MA turned against him quick. He didn't run because losing would kill his presidential run.

Boston cops don't "do" guerilla marketing, period.  It's like asking them to understand why a guy might wax his eyebrows, or wear girl jeans, or watch Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

On the local news, they blew apart one of the ATHF devices with a water cannon. Another one you see being reeled away by a line :lol

Its so ridiculous seeing a moonite being reeled away in slow motion...its just surreal :lol. Oh gosh

And you people were badmouthing this season of ATHF.  Did you ever expect them, EVER, to bring you as many laughs as you've had today?  I bet arrests of middle easterners went up by a factor of 4 today in Boston.

Really?  How did they keep the wraps on this movie for so long?  It comes out in a month and really, very little is known about it.

It's a small production and most of the screenings have been negative, with very little detail except:

OMG THIS IS LONG AND VERY, VERY distinguished mentally-challenged.

It could be an epic trainwreck, but I'm there for Bruce Campbell and to support the terrorizing-loving Mooninites.
Title: Re: Is America paranoid?
Post by: The Fake Shemp on January 31, 2007, 10:46:02 PM
Also, the cartoon has very little support amongst the Internet geek movie crowd.  Almost everyone on the AICN, Dark Horizons and other 'net media outlets publically hate the show.  Harry posted the trailer and said he thought the show was stupid and the animation was awful.

I dunno, I'm sure it will easily recoup costs and make some cash due to this new awesome marketing campaign, courtesy of the paranoid and distinguished mentally-challenged people of Boston!
Title: Re: Is America paranoid?
Post by: The Fake Shemp on January 31, 2007, 10:53:33 PM
I highly doubt that the movie cost much, if anything, to actually make... so I'm sure it'll make a large profit, even if it was straight to DVD.

But in response to Boston for jailing people over this, I'm there DAY ONE.
Title: Re: Is America paranoid?
Post by: BlueTsunami on January 31, 2007, 11:04:24 PM
They showed the guy that seems to be taking the brunt of the media attacks (the dude that setup the mooninite boards). They've labeled him as a "struggling artist". He looks like a stoner and he has those white boy dreads (with a goatee) :lol

Fricken hilarious. Fox 25 (local news) also interviewed some early 20 geeks about ATHF, it was awkward watching them try to explain what ATHF is without stammering like they had a severe studdering problem.

it's easy to laugh at the response, but what you have had them do?

in this day and age, they had no choice but to respond as they did.

whoever thought it was a smart idea to place these "devices" at strategic points -- bridges, transportation, etc. -- should be fired.

it's amusing, i guess, especially the obvious disconnect between these politicians and popular culture.

but once you stop laughing, you wonder what would have happened had they done nothing, and the "devices" turned out to be bombs.

Really, futami, this is a FAILURE either way.  Not only were harmless adverts identified as suspicious, but they were identified as such 3 weeks after they had been on the streets.  I doubt terrorists would be leaving bombs in plain sight for a month.

This is a total and complete failure any way you cut it.  America BLOWS.

How utterly out of touch can you get?

The best part is how officials in Boston are "furious" because were made to look like fools for overreacting when in 9 out of 10 cities everyone understood that it was a publicity stunt. Terrorists win.

The guy that got arrested (with the dreads) was there with a lawyer and his friend (I think). The reporters were trying to ask them questions about the incident with the devices but the main guy (with the dreads) was deflecting each and every question and saying "Thats not a question about Hairstyles"

He would then converse with his friend about different hairstyles (from the Beatles and 70's hair). The reporters started to ask him why hes not taking the situation seriously and he would answer with something like "I'm seriously concerned about hairstyles at the moment" :lol

I think its probably him responding to media outlets talking about his dreads and calling him a stoner because of it. Just payback :D
